Eloquent Praise & Empowerment Dance Company is a multiple award winning dance company and performing arts community organisation with a mission to empower young people through dance and mentoring. Our mission is to inspire the next generation through the creative arts whilst training them to become the best possible versions of themselves.

So it’s time you met some of the people helping us make it all happen behind the scenes…

Meet Denise, our Executive Assistant, who works closely with our CEO and Board supporting the day-to-day running of Eloquent.

Denise helps us keep on top of it all, making sure the work behind the scenes gets the care it deserves. As we move into this next chapter, that support means so much.

We talk a lot about our dancers and what happens in the studio, but we want you to know the people who help hold everything together too. Every role matters- one can’t function without the other, and we’re grateful to have Denise as part of the Eloquent team ❤️

Meet the heart behind our café... Grandma Thelma ❤️☕️

When Eloquent started in 2014, Thelma grandmother to Romanah and mother to Janice, our co-founders ...ran a tuck shop every Saturday at our academy.

Young people n parents would come for a snack, but often stayed for a 1-2 chat, encouragement or even prayer. Grandma became our Eloquent chaplain, offering pastoral support and praying faithfully over our dancers, our families and the organisation behind the scenes.

She has helped hold up the foundations of Eloquent ever since. ❤️

When we renovated our Arts Centre, keeping the café at its heart was deeply personal. A space to eat, talk, connect, pray and believe God together through challenges but also triumphs.

Now, we’re extending that welcome to our wider community.

☕️ Tuesdays throughout October | 10am–3pm
Coffee, cakes, light bites and co-working. Bring your laptop, bring a friend or simply come as you are.

❤️ Saturdays | 11am–2pm
Our regular café opening for Eloquent dancers, parents and families during academy+company.

Sometimes, dance is just the starting point.

At Birmingham Weekender, Lela didn’t just perform through movement... she stepped forward with spoken word too.

Clear, Eloquent and bold. 🔥

And THAT is what being part of the Eloquent movement is about.

We’re not just developing dancers. We’re empowering young people to discover their voice, explore their creativity and realise that their passion can stretch far beyond dance.

✨ ARTIST IN THE SPOTLIGHT....HOLLY FRANCIS ✨

Meet Holly... a Birmingham-based choreographer, dance artist and multidisciplinary visual artist, and part of our Eloquent family since 2023. ❤️

A De Montfort University graduate, Holly explores identity, cultural heritage and human experiences through movement, music, visual art and writing. Her training spans contemporary, traditional Caribbean folk and West African dance forms, hip hop and Bollywood, shaping her approach to storytelling.

Her performance journey includes Eloquent’s Black Rose production this year, ITV Nationall Lottery Windrush and taking part in the European Athletics Championships....and the list goes on! 🔥

Holly has also recently started a master’s in Black Dance with the fabulous Serendipity Institute for Black Arts and Heritage; an exciting next chapter in deepening her knowledge, artistry and choreographic practice. 👏🏽📚

Her wider experience includes working, training and dancing with Keneish Dance, Candoco and Critical Mass, alongside performances across film, live stages and outdoor spaces.

Since joining Eloquent, Holly has continued to grow through training, performing and teaching, drawing inspiration from fellow artists, pioneers and the community around her.

We’re proud to have Holly as part of our story and to celebrate everything she’s creating in her own. Show her some love below! ❤️
