Last week was one to remember. 😍

96 children and young people with Additional needs, and their siblings, attended Fantastic Journeys sessions in Birmingham and Sandwell. Across the week we were in Walsall, Wednesbury, Northfield, Smethwick, Bearwood and Rowley Regis.

Our music and movement practitioners delivered sessions in schools, a college, an art gallery, a church and a community centre.

Where they facilitated small groups to sing, dance, play, imagine and investigate together.

We have some more sessions happening with New Art Gallery Walsall this Saturday. Space are still available in both the lively and quieter sessions.

Next Month, join us to celebrate Fantastic Journeys' Multi-sensory music sessions for children with Additional Needs
Date: Saturday 10 October

Join Nicola and Maisie from Fantastic Journeys in a session inspired by the exhibition Mothers Without Hands in the Community Gallery. This session will be a vibrant celebration of life, exploring colourful fabrics with the chance to dress up and create music together.

There will be opportunities for singing, dancing, playing and music making. Expect instruments, multisensory props, tactile items and more.
A lively session suitable will be offered for most children with additional needs 12pm - 1pm and then a quieter session for children with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) and/or complex support needs 2-3pm.

These sessions are designed to deliver a life affirming, empowering and creative experience for children with Additional Needs

🎉Sunday 15th November.
We’ll be taking over the whole of Thimblemill Library again to spend the afternoon together, sharing what Fantastic Journeys does and raising a bit of money towards our sessions.

What to expect?
There will be cake, of course, and a combination of activities. The activities will be family friendly and put together with SEND families in mind.

There will be the usual invite only quieter hour from 12.15pm -1.15pm, for families that need a quieter space. And then the doors will open at 1:15pm for anyone that would like to join us!

The event is for people that already come to our sessions, people that would like to know more and people that simply want some cake and their face painted! We promise a very warm welcome.

There’s also still time to get involved in the planning and delivery of the event, just get in touch if you would like to be part of the party team 🥳

'Friends of Fantastic Journeys' is a small group of fantastic people who help us to:

📢Share Fantastic Journeys’ mission,
‘To support and empower people with Additional Needs
through joyful, participant led, creative arts practice’.
They are advocates, raising awareness of FJ’s activities and impact, and building links within our local communities.

💰Help Fantastic Journeys to access funding, through finding and exploring funding opportunities and designing and delivering fundraising events.

🤔Reflect on our work, as critical friends and independent observers.

📅We have one meeting a month for people that would like to offer support, though there is no minimum time commitment.

🥰We are also extremely grateful for everyone that does this already for us, informally, by looking out for opportunities, making suggestions and telling people about us.

OurTime After School Club "Escape the Castle" 🏰
An interactive, multi-sensory adventure for children with Additional Needs
Spaces available!

📢OurTime afterschool club is back on Monday the 21st of September.
This term the children will be taking part in a fantasy themed adventure.
They will encounter a new challenge each week as they try to escape from a mysterious wizard who has trapped them in his castle.
Expect music making, dancing, role playing and multi-sensory activities.

OurTime after school club is a cross arts club for children with Additional Needs and siblings. It takes place on Mondays during term time at Bearwood Baptist Church, Bearwood Road, Smethwick, B66 4HA. There are sessions at 4.30pm and 5.30pm.

We’re back! After a fun and creative summer. As well as taking some time off, we took part in the Sandwell Holiday Activities programme, Northfield Neighbourhood Network Scheme - Northfield Community Partnership summer festival, sessions at Haden Hill House and we delivered sessions for Kids.

If you joined us over the summer, or would like to share other adventures with us, please do!

We are looking forward to seeing everyone back at OurTime and Musical Conversations this month.

🤠OurTime starts back on the 21st September. There is still time to register for the group. Send us a message us if you’ve not been before. The clubs includes music, dance and storytelling and is for children with Additional Needs and their families.

🎻Musical Conversations is back on 27th September. The session are full for now, but you can join our short waiting list. It’s a music club for people with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities and/or Complex Support Needs.



The reel shows adults that work for Fantastic Journeys at different summer events. Our parent carer lunches return this month😃
We will be back in the Padgham Room at Warley Woods, eating food from Anajen Cafe in the Woods and playing around with loose craft bits.
We're a small, welcoming group of parents whose children have Additional Needs.
