Throwback to 3 weeks ago.
The Butterfly Project is solely for our young people, we look at how we can support them with their personal growth as they navigate their way in society. We love and enjoy emerging talent and it was such an enjoyable experience working with a small group of girls on confident building, exploring identity and image via creative writing and movement.

In just 3 weeks the girls created their personal monologues and presented their work to an invited audience and it was fantastic. We commissioned a project for them to document their lockdown experiences and fears in just a week this is what they presented.

We are so proud of the girls, they worked so hard and the most rewarding part was hearing much they enjoyed the workshops and how confidence they gained from it.

Thank you to Birmingham City Council for their support, The Butterflies and the Mooville team.

It has been circulating for a few weeks. What are your thoughts? Did anyone feel uncomfortable?

As the original artist is a black woman, we need question why does the art and entertainment industry continues to enable this and why they think it’s entertaining to mock black women?
