I’m part of a team organising a Festive Wreath Making workshop this year in aid of Plaistow and Kirdford Primary School’s Forest School fund.

Next Wednesday 4th December 7pm at Plaistow and Kirdford School, Plaistow.

Last year it was a huge success raising over £500 with lots of fun had by all!

Book your tickets and bring a friend (or 3) for some festive fun with mulled wine and mince pies.

What better way to start the season, complete with a wreath to take home and put on your front door.

Last few tickets remaining:

A few wreaths completed for my mum to go on my late grandparents grave and my late uncles when the sun was shining a couple days ago. I love old doors and this one on the farm is a great example!

Out first festive wreath workshop of the year was held on the farm today with these 4 amazing ladies!

Liz booked for her and her friends back in the summer before we’d had even a chance to think about this years workshops.

All four of their wreaths turned out beautifully, as indeed everyone’s does, despite the pessimism some have while still thoroughly enjoying themselves putting their door decoration together.

We enjoyed homemade mince pies, hot chocolate and a few of us had the mulled wine as well to warm ourselves up!

Thanks to some ☀️ and clear skies we borrowed the Ganders Gate Glamping site at our farm for optimal comfort, fresh air and beautiful views across the fields (as well as very comfortable facilities for hot drinks, hand washing and when nature called!).

We don’t have any dates scheduled for future workshops but if you and/or a group of friends are interested and want to come and join us for a morning or afternoon please send a message as we would love the opportunity to help you build your own wreath. 🎄

I have made my first ever series of tutorial videos for you on how to make a festive wreath.

I have got part 1 to share today on how to make your moss base with the wire frame. I also have part 3 ready on how to make a bow but I have to re-do the main part 2 as it didn’t record which I will share tomorrow!

Please let me know what you think!

It’s that time of year again when we start to get ready for Christmas 🎄 and winter ❄️

I love Autumn as there is so much in our hedgerows and for years I have wanted to make sloe Gin so this year I’ve already collected 2+kg of sloes just from walking distance of my house in kirdford and have a bottle of gin and sugar to get this brewing this evening. It’s so simple! There are lots of different ratios but summarised the ones I’ve found

200-250g sugar

1pt-1ltr Gin/Whiskey/wine/sherry

500g sloes

I need more liquor!

Please share with me any tried and tested recipes! And for hedgerow jelly or cordial!
