Tapshoes & Tutus

Tapshoes & Tutus Qualified teachers (BATD, Acrobatic Arts, Trinity London, NPAA). Classes in Tap, Ballet, Modern, Song & Dance, Acro & Musical Theatre.

Fun or focused — join us for exams, competitions & shows! Tap
Tap is a fun style of dance that builds strength in the legs and feet in addition to increasing flexibility in the knees, hips and ankles. Tap classes develop pupil’s sense of rhythm and they work on learning steps to put into routines. Pupils can work towards medal tests with the examination board BATD and can take yearly exams. Cla

ssical Ballet
Classical Ballet is the foundation for all dance styles and teaches pupils the most important elements of dance including placement, posture, flexibility, grace, musicality and sound technique. Ballet classes prepare pupils for all other classes such as Tap, Jazz or Musical Theatre and are the most important class for budding dancers to attend. Pupils will work towards graded examinations with the examination boards BATD

Modern/jazz
Modern is a fun and energetic class which teaches pupils skills such as kicks, splits, leaps and turns all to the latest pop songs in the charts. Jazz classes also incorporate Musical Theatre so if you like Hairspray and HSM this class is for you. Jazz increases flexibility, strength, co-ordination, rhythm but most of all CONFIDENCE! Pupils perform in our yearly show and work towards passing exams once per year with the exam board, BATD

Song and Dance
Singing classes are aimed at everyone whether you are a confident singer or have never sung before. Pupils can prepare for competition work, sing in the School performances or sing just for fun. Pupils learn how to warm-up correctly using vocal exercises and scales, how to use their voice properly and how to protect their voices. Group and solo work is covered in classes and pupils have the opportunity to master microphone technique and performance techniques. Pupils are taught the basics of reading sheet music, which is a skill, which they will need once they reach secondary school if it is not covered at primary school. Happy feet classes
Happy Feet is a structured class into dance for young little dancers. They learn the basics of Tap, Ballet and modern so that they can progress into competition class and stage grade class if they show dedication and hard work. Pupils work towards their Tap shoes and tutus Badge! Arco-Gymnastics
At the moment the class is full! Acrobatic Gymnastics is an infusion of choreography and gymnastic skills performed to music. Pupils work in harmony and trust as they learn lifts and balances together as well as tricks individually. Classes improve pupil’s strength, agility, flexibility, balance and communication skills. Arco-Gymnastics complements Jazz classes and cover some of the same elements such as splits, kicks, cartwheels etc. Please not that most of my classes include Musical Theatre
Musical Theatre classes combine Singing, Dance and Acting. Classes are designed to give pupils a broad knowledge of the skills required for Musical Theatre and also a repertoire from a wide spectrum of shows, past and present. Material is taken from a variety of West End and Broadway style productions as well as current theatre style movies.

Another fantastic day at Lisa Clinton School of Dance competition ❤️

I honestly can’t say enough lovely things about this competition. Everyone is always so friendly, welcoming and supportive, and the hospitality for teachers absolutely blows me away every single time. It’s the little things that make such a difference – endless cups of tea, food to keep us going, and even a beautiful scone! 🫶🏼

As always, my team did me incredibly proud. Of course it’s a competition and we all love a placement when it comes our way 🏆, but for me it’s so much more than that. Spending the day with friends, watching talented dancers from other schools, cheering everyone on and celebrating each other’s successes is just so wholesome ❤️

A huge thank you to Lisa, Sarah, Sue and all of the amazing team for everything you do. Your hard work never goes unnoticed.

See you soonies 😘 ###

I’m so proud!! To be able to offer this to my seniors who are incredible young leaders!!!

I’m so proud!! To be able to offer this to my seniors who are incredible young leaders!!!

I’m so proud and excited to let you all know that I am now officially approved to deliver Leadership Skills Foundation qualifications!

It has taken a lot of hard work and dedication to get here, as becoming a registered centre is no easy process. In a previous career, I worked as a Trainer and Assessor in Health & Social Care, so being able to bring accredited leadership qualifications into the studio feels incredibly special.

For the past five years, I have been training and supporting young people as Sports Leaders and Dance Leaders. While they have gained valuable experience and in-house certificates recognising their volunteering, they can now work towards fully accredited Level 1 and Level 2 Leadership qualifications.

I am also delighted to have secured funding from Billingham Town Council to cover our first year of registration. Next Thursday, I have a studio visit as part of a second-round funding application, and I am hopeful we can secure further funding to make these qualifications completely free for our young leaders.

These young people deserve every opportunity to grow, learn, and develop skills that will benefit them for life, and I will continue doing everything I can to make that happen.

Thank you to everyone who has supported this journey so far — this is just the beginning! 💜
