Back to looking at the 8th Sept 8 wk paper printmaking course and the techniques which will be taught! Collograph can be the most experimental; working with lots of textures and materials. In addition to 8wk courses, I'll also be teaching a 4 week fabric print one The Square Studio 5th Sept 9.30-1! First class will be indigo dyeing, popular with all age groups and abilities; previously taught here and at Barnstsple museum.
After creating lots of fabric shibori patterns by folding, pleating and ironing, we will dip dye the fabrics in an indigo vat. Unravel the fabrics to discover the alchemy of cotton changing yellow to blue!!

Next technique on the 8 wk paper print course is Drypoint printing! We start by creating ink studies using sticks, feathers dipped in ink to produce loose drawings full of marks. These are used as a starting base for our etching plates!

I am showcasing each technique to illustrate what can be achieved over the 8 week paper print course! First up..monoprinting!
This is so accessible to all ages and abilities. We forage in the garden for foliage then create our own stencils to print with. Learn to ink up, use the press and create 4 colourful layered prints.
I've taught this in local cafes, hotels (like Broomhill as shown below) care homes, galleries (Burton and Green hill), potteries, and of course here on the 8 week course! Here at the studio pupils have the added benefit of being taught in a very small group of only up to 4.

The next class The Growforward Project
is Summer Monoprinting!

A lovely workshop with printmaker Annabel Hill in the meadows and studio of The Growforward project.
After photographing, drawing and collecting foliage from the meadow, we will return to the studio to create botanical and bug stencils based on our studies. Templates will also be given for beginners.
After choosing our colours we will ink up foliage and stencils and run them through the press multiple times!
Create up to 4 lovely, layered, textural A4 botanical prints to take home, frame and give to loved ones.
A perfect workshop for beginners and more experienced print makers alike.
