Built my career in contemporary art, after being kicked out of illustration, theorised myself into ultra minimalist made no work of my own for years. Today I spend 8 hours drawing a moth wing 😅 practicing painting again challenges me to make art quickly and imperfectly. I need the control of coloured pencil art but crave the freedom of a looser style. Still trying to work it out. This is a humming bird hawk moth

➡️➡️➡️ Swipe to reveal. Emperor moths are one of the most beautiful creatures to spot, I've not been lucky enough to see one yet even though they're pretty common, I need to get round to building a moth trap. Posting late at night as I may have become nocturnal myself 😅

The Large Emerald moth (Geometra papilionaria) in coloured pencil. Most people only ever see her as pale yellow in old collections, because the green fades after death. This is what she actually looks like alive if you’re lucky enough to spot one!

30 hours. Worth every minute.
