Yesterday Lucy and I had a full circle moment returning to Valley Road Primary, where Gemma and I did a show 8 years ago. That first class sparked Lucy’s love of dance. It was so special to be back performing and inspiring the next budding Lucy. We now have 18 new sign-ups for the class she’ll be teaching today — such a proud moment 😊

A very happy 19th Birthday to this amazing young lady. It’s been a pleasure to teach Lucy since she was 11 and watch her grow into the superstar she is. And she’s just lovely with it 😊

A few of us ventured over to Basildon yesterday for a NATD qualifying competition for Blackpool.
We had a great return of results achieving:

1st - 9
2nd - 8
3rd - 1
4th - 5
5th - 1

But the best moment was watching Graeham and Liz walk out on the wrong competition (the Under 40s Couples Tango). Their initial frustration was soon forgotten when they only went and won it!

Jane’s hair piece flying across the floor in her Cha Cha also got quite a laugh too! 🤭

Our Christmas Dance last night packed with fun and laughter including:

A magical demonstration from Mark and Maddie who are quite frankly superstars!

- NEW! Made up by Oscar aged 6 - A Christmas Dance to All I want for Christmas is you in memory of Grandma Joyce - my personal highlight. It was hilarious 🤣!
- NEW! The box Christmas Viennese Waltz for everyone - and how good was it! It would have been a 10 from Len!
- The 65p Trophy 🏆
- The Christmas Barn Dance to I want a hippopotamus for Christmas 🤭 🦛
- Our annual awards - well done to Gemma for winning the Exam 🏆
- A super well done to Alexandra for winning the new Joyce Miles Most Improved Performance Award. For those in the know, the award was in the style of the ISTD Basics and Standards rose bowl Mum won 3 years in a row 😊

All in all, a fab-u-lous evening!

After 10 years of taking lessons at The Travellers, today was the day we handed back our keys 😔. While it’s certainly not the greatest of halls, it has given us flexibility and memories galore, starting way back when my Brother left for Hong Kong in the late 1990s. This hall has been a big part of our family for reasons extending beyond dancing. The future, for now at least, holds something different for us and, like my routines, we will need to evolve to a new pattern of steps.

A huge Happy Birthday to the fabulous and insanely talented Lucy who turned 18 yesterday! She loves dancing and all of us so much that she still came to classes! We may have also gone to the pub afterwards for her first legal drink!

What do I love about Blackpool more than the dancing and more than the results?

The answer- Oscar and Rose lighting up the moments in between with their infectious enthusiasm and brilliance 🥰

Considering how long it was for them, they were the stand out stars of the weekend 🤩!

Blackpool Day 1 Ballroom, and what a day!

We experienced everybody getting into a final and then having

6 - Champions 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆
4 - 2nds
3 - 3rds
2 - 4ths
1 - 5th

What a fabulous set of results to match the brave, brilliant and best performances our new performance coach (Oscar aged 6!) asked for!

But, a whole new experience for me, England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 winning on penalties whilst dancing a Quickstep final with Caroline Meader! What an amazing moment that was!
