Afonso School of Performing Arts Call us today to learn more! We aim to create a fun, yet disciplined environment in which our students can develop skills in dance, acting and singing.

Afonso School of Performing Arts is run by a husband and wife team, both West End professionals, with credits including We Will Rock You, Chicago, Jesus Christ Superstar, Top Hat, Thriller Live and BBC's The Voice UK. The classes we have on offer are in ballet, tap, jazz, commercial, musical theatre and more. We would like to encourage our pupils to participate in multiple classes, where possible,

as we believe that it produces a more well-rounded, confident performer. Our unique timetable allows for this. We also have pre-school and parent&toddler drop-in ballet classes, following the Melody Bear Syllabus. Being parents ourselves, we understand how important it is for you to see your child happy, whilst developing a skill for life, and so we ensure you that our classes will be fun, yet structured and rewarding. We follow the IDTA syllabus and aim for all student to be entered for examinations, but it is optional. We hold 3 exam sessions per year, and usually one presentation or show per year for performance opportunities.

Yes! We offer payment by Direct Debit instalments, allowing you to spread the cost of your child’s classes throughout the term.

We know that makes things much easier for busy families, and we want joining Afonso to be as straightforward as possible. 💕

Our direct debit options are for our main school classes and are available for children and young people aged 3–18 years.

Our little dancers can start from around 2 years old! 💕

Our Parent & Toddler classes are specially designed for ages 2–4, with a parent, grandparent or carer staying with their child throughout the class.

It’s a relaxed and fun introduction to:

🌟 Confidence
💕 And spending special time together!

There’s no pressure - just lots of fun, encouragement and those lovely first steps into the world of dance.

Parent & Toddler classes are held at All Saints Church on Shrublands Road.

🌟 JUNIOR DANCE CLUB - BERKHAMSTED 🪩

Looking for a high-energy dance class for your child with focus on keeping fit, having fun and making friends? Well look no further!

Our brand new Junior Dance Club for children aged 7-10yrs is perfect for beginners to the more experienced looking for a relaxed dance environment, to be creative and learn new choreography and dance styles.

From salsa to street dance, this class will be engaging and inspiring.

Starts 8th September at The Vyne Theatre in Berkhamsted. 16:45-17:45 every Tuesday.
