The menu is designed to be vegan and wheat-free, but please do ask if you have any concerns, no question too small....EVERYONE IS WELCOME.....
3FF exists to nourish and nurture our neighbourhood. You're welcome to come alone or with friends. There are opportunities to sit together or meet new people, and some quiet corners too.
3FF is a community dining experience on 3rd Fridays at Number 28 community space in Belper.
Each month a team of volunteers serves a main course and pudding. Donations are taken after the meal, and any surplus after costs is donated to a charity of the lead cook's choice.

Come share your Friday evening in the company of like minded, community spirited people. We know that talking to strangers isn't for everyone, but also that strangers are just friends we haven't met yet.3FF aims to be inclusive and is for everyone. Some come instead of sitting in a restaurant, some prefer a more relaxed atmosphere, or meeting new people, or sitting alone, or need to bring the kids, or don't want a boozy environment. Some donate ÂŁ50 instead of dining out; others need a free hot meal. Hop out of your echo chamber and into your community!
Under 16s welcome accompanied by a responsible adult.

TONIGHT (Tues) Webster's Ragtime Trio with Phil Doleman | FOUR tickets available!
Unique opportunity to see this amazing band - they've come all the way from Texas!
BOOK NOW! click on the link: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/websters-ragtime-trio-introduced-by-phil-doleman-tickets-1987252468629?aff=oddtdtcreator
WEBSTER’S RAGTIME TRIO is a central Texas-based throwback to a style of music that went largely unrecorded. Around the turn-of-the-century, it is said that there was lots of string bands, i.e. mandolin, banjo, guitar, bow cello, playing the popular hits of the day including classic ragtime compositions like the Maple leaf rag. Although that type of music was composed for marching bands and solo piano performance, it is hard not to notice how joyful it sounds played on acoustic stringed instruments. And they don’t stop there, they more than dip their toes into ragged Texas Fiddle tunes from the 78 RPM era, even venturing across the pond to play the occasional archaic Polish mazurka, and/or striking up borderland polka Harkening back to the glory days of Texas.
Alexander Jones, Will Webster, and Westen Borghesi make up this fine trio.
PHIL DOLEMAN (introducing/supporting) Phil’s love of vintage blues, jazz, novelty, and jug band music shines through as he blows the dust off obscure old songs and gives new life to classics. With just his big voice and driving rhythms on both ukulele and banjo, he’ll take you back to the juke joints and speakeasies of 100 years ago. Phil is based in Belper, Derbyshire.

Tickets: The BJC + Richard Exall & Gary Wood - A tribute to Chet & Getz. | Number 28, Market Place, Belper Sun 21 June 2026
Step into a world of lyrical jazz and timeless elegance as two masterful musicians—Richard Exall on saxophone and Gary Wood on trumpet—take centre stage for an evening that promises to captivate and inspire. This concert pays tribute to the cool sophistication of Stan Getz and the introspective charm of Chet Baker, brought to life by performers shaped by decades of collaboration and acclaim. Whether you’re drawn by classic jazz or seeking a night of musical excellence, this is a performance not to be missed.
Richard Exall, a multi-instrumentalist of rare versatility, toured extensively with the legendary Big Chris Barber Band and co-led acclaimed ensembles like the Magnificent 7 Jazz Band and the Amy Roberts/Richard Exall Quintet. Critics have praised his “superb musicianship” and “entertaining presentation,” noting his balance of technical brilliance and emotional depth. His tone—rich, expressive, and melodic—has earned him a reputation as one of the UK’s finest interpreters of classic jazz.

Gary Wood brings a warm trumpet sound and charismatic stage presence that has delighted audiences across the UK. A busy freelance performer, he’s in demand for his lyrical playing and musical sensitivity. His trumpet style has been described as "elegant and expressive," with critics noting his "impeccable phrasing" and "tonal warmth. In addition to trumpet, Gary’s smooth vocals—described as “charming and inimitable”— draw from the American Songbook tradition, evoking Chet Baker’s understated intimacy.

Together, Richard and Gary offer a conversation between saxophone, trumpet, and voice, shaped by experience and a shared love for the music. Expect elegance, intimacy, and swing, delivered with charm, humour, and heart.

In the middle ages Belper had a large manorial complex with a grand hall and lots of other buildings from which the royal forest of Duffield Frith was controlled. We know it existed but the mystery of where it was actually located has puzzled and confused for a long while.
Join us on Sunday 7th June for this popular talk which examines all the evidence, including recent archaeology and research, and points to a possible site.
