In 2019, after stepping away from performing full‑time, I launched Josh Jones Academy and began my journey into teaching. Not long after, Sally “John’s auntie”approached me about a Christmas present for her nephew, John a boy age 12 who loved singing but had never had a lesson, and who happened to be right in the middle of a voice break and a cochlear implant.
Fast‑forward to 2026, and Sally has invested so much into supporting John’s singing also big shoutout to his family for allowing me to have endless lessons in there front rooms….His journey has been incredible, but it’s his own hard work, commitment, and hours of practice that have brought him to where he is today.
Tonight I watched him play Shrek. Last year it was Jean Valjean. Wherever he goes, he flies the flag with pride. I stood up at the end with a tear in my eye, and when I looked over to see Sally beaming and John’s family cheering him on… it felt like a job well done.
