Seeing skilled stylists invest their earnings into tools that failed them within months, blades that dulled, handles that fatigued the hand, craftsmanship compromised for volume. The scissors that performed as they should carried a price built around prestige, not purpose.

Wet hair behaves predictably, it falls, it holds a line, it hides small inconsistencies until it dries. Dry hair doesn’t offer that safety net. Every angle, every point cut, every texture decision shows immediately.

You’re probably sharpening your scissors too often, or not enough. ✂️

There’s no universal rule here. It comes down to the steel, how much you’re cutting, and how the blade actually feels day to day.

Premium steel holds its edge significantly longer than soft alloy, which means fewer trips to the sharpener and more consistent performance between them. Sharpening too often just wears the blade down faster.

The real signal isn’t a date on a calendar, it’s drag, snagging, or extra pressure creeping into your cut.
