Hillhead Crafts Hillhead Crafts deliver bespoke craft classes and workshops such as scrapbooking, card making, candlemaking and creative embroidery.

Hillhead Crafts has been in operation since 2011 and is run by Lorna and Michael Watson, who live in the rural area of Ballystockart, near Dundonald, Belfast. The company sell craft making kits and supplies, and deliver a number of bespoke craft classes and workshops, which aim to help build confidence and the skills of the participants. They cover a range of craft topics including:

Currently the workshops take place in either their bespoke home studio on the outskirts of Belfast, or in venues across Northern Ireland to suit different groups. Hillhead Crafts caters for various church and community groups, day care centres, groups of friends, hen parties and children's parties. Card-making workshop for a group of 28 ladies on tour. After enjoying afternoon tea at The Secret Garden at Dundonald Nurseries it was down to business, making 2 cards within one hour. For some, it was their first time making cards and then there were the A team (you know who you are!) who shone throughout. Busy session but everyone went away with 2 cards completed and a smile of achievement. Enjoy the shopping!

What a fantastic day we had at Aghalee Village Hall yesterday, hosting not one but two back-to-back workshops that were simply buzzing with creativity and enthusiasm. Great atmosphere and plenty of chat and interaction. In the morning session, we delved into the world of bespoke candlemaking where each participant got to design their own unique candles in teacups, choosing from a vast array of colours and scents to create truly one-of-a-kind masterpieces. And then they got to make their own rolled beeswax candles, which added a little bonus to the workshop. The afternoon was a fun-filled session of bath fizzies and reed diffuser making. While the bath fizzies were drying in their moulds, we took a creative detour to learn the art of origami box-making, which proved to be a delightful surprise for many. The end result was a stunning collection of handmade goodies, each reed diffuser infused with its own special touch and aroma. Everyone left with a smile on their face, clutching their beautifully crafted creations. And we can't wait to do it all again soon! 🎨💫🕯️

Just added is the Cross stitch and Chicken scratch workshop - 2 for the price of 1 - on Friday 24 July at 7pm. At Hillhead Crafts, sustainability is at the core of our operations. As community groups face funding constraints, we recognise the importance of eco-friendly practices in delivering diverse programmes. Our repertoire includes eco-conscious crafts during Christmas and appliqué/embroidery sessions. Today, we're excited to introduce a workshop that upcycles glass jars, specifically pesto and chutney containers, into charming posy jars adorned with paint, ribbon, and vinyl floral motifs or dried florals. The addition of a clay 'frog' for effortless floral arrangement makes this workshop a fun, stress-free experience for participants. If you're seeking a budget-friendly group activity, consider partnering with us. We're happy to travel to your venue if you have 15 or more participants or we can accommodate smaller groups at our studio.

Beautiful morning spent in the company of some lovely ladies at the Royal British Legion in Kilkeel. Forgot to get photos but everyone made a tag, decorated a gift bag and made an accompanying greeting card. All ready to gift when the occasion arises. Well done ladies. Another busy day yesterday in the studio compiling 23 seascape kits ready for dispatch. Fabrics had been prepared and dyed, templates cut, fibres bundled and beads bagged and it was all down to packaging the components. More provided in the kits than required but it's important to give a choice as each person embarks on their creative journey in producing their visual art. Of course there will be guidelines, hints and tips and a picture of a finished piece to provide inspiration. Suitable for all skill levels. I am running this as a workshop on 1stJuly at 7pm for anyone who prefers to be guided through the stages and the kit is also available in the shop for anyone who wants to give this a go at home.
