Resilience.

I also had my lovely client Liz in again for one of my hand drawn flash designs and a custom piece for her grand children.

I also got to catch up with her native lady head, which was done last week. Not my usual style tbh, and one I'm going to step away from for now.
But glad to see it healing beautifully! No scabbing at all 😌

I grew up in England, so I never truly understood the history of the Troubles or the impact it still has here until I moved over and experienced it for myself.

In my opinion, it's a part of our history that the UK government has never fully reckoned with, and many families are still living with the consequences today.

Tattooing in West Belfast has opened my eyes even further. Listening to survivors and families, and hearing how trauma continues to ripple through generations has changed the way I see this place. It's one of the reasons I chose to complete mental health training, so I can better support clients when they sit in my chair.

Here, tattoos are often far more than just ink in skin. They tell stories of love, grief, remembrance, resilience and the ongoing search for justice.

It was an honour to complete this cover-up today and to hear stories about my client's father, who was killed in 1972, one of the darkest years of the conflict.
