We are sorry to say Re-Vision Performing Arts Festival will not be going ahead for the foreseeable future.

Over the last 4 years, we have had such a wild and amazing time. We have had the pleasure of meeting so many phenomenal artists and creatives which have made our time hosting Re-Vision unforgettable. There have been many strong connections and relationships created through this festival and we are extremely grateful for all of your support and dedication over the years.

As we reach what would have been our fifth year, both Jen and I have celebrated substantial shifts in our creative careers between full-time jobs and PhD projects and unfortunately at this time, it is no longer viable for us to proceed with Re-Vision. We will continue working together on artistic projects that support the communities that are extremely important to us.

Thank you for the incredible support and work everyone has put in to this festival from the beginning. , you have brought so much passion, love and laughter to Re-Vision. , you’re a literal superstar and we are so grateful for your encouragement over the years, and to our other incredible hosts & - you are such a huge part of the Re-Vision family, thank you 🙏 We could go on thanking so many other people and organisations that have hosted us, supported and guided us - the list goes on and on, but you know who you are 🥹⭐️

We appreciate you all for the support, love and friendship ❤️

Much love,
Chloe and Jen xoxoxo

Re-Vision Performing Arts Festival was founded in 2018 by visual artists Chloe Austin and Jennifer Alexander, both currently based in Northern Ireland and working from Flax Arts Studios as part of the Emerging Artist Hub ❤️

Re-Vision Festival is driven by an artist-led team that work to promote social inclusion, diversity and equality throughout diverse performing arts. The festival emerges from societal concerns involving LGBTQIA+ issues in Northern Ireland. (See our 2020 documentary via link in our bio for more info!)

We love meeting, seeing and working with such exciting artists every year! We are so unbelievably buzzing for this year and hope to see you all at this years events! 💗

Shoutout to our wonderful partner organisation this year Digital Arts Studios, it’s been a really tough time for these guys after losing their building due to a fire - but we are amazed and so grateful for your continual support and friendship throughout this years ups and downs. What an incredible bunch ✨

Also big love to our venues this year, Accidental Theatre (always - we LOVE you), Golden Thread Gallery (what babes), and Ulster Sports Club (so chill to work with, love to see it).

So, if you’re ever planning on starting up your own festival (there’s more good days than bad I swear) or want to organise your own event - I’d recommend these venues 100% ✨🕺

We’re haunted. Big excitement, bigger love 💗

There’s been something really beautiful about producing the printed and promotional material for this years festival. It’s always a hectic time of year for us but we really wanted to take a more “hands on” approach in terms of design and production. Causing more work for us? Maybe. But it’s been almost therapeutic creating these posters/flyers.

Usually design has such a strict set of rules and guidelines attached, it’s all about control, legibility and precision. It’s created something really unique by not adhering to these rules, attempting to sort of “q***r” design and celebrate mistakes and glitches.

We are a very small team behind Re-Vision (like, SO small) and meeting/seeing the artists involved each year is what keeps us going and working hard to encourage something special. It’s actually so much more than a festival, it’s like a beautiful collaboration with some of the most exciting artists of our time.

We aren’t always perfect and we don’t want to be, we’re Re-Vision 💗

Niamh Seana Meehan | Seeing You Seeing Me

Niamh Seana Meehan is a visual artist based in Northern Ireland. Working in-between visual art, performance and written matter based on the slippages involved within the translation of thought to text. Her practice investigates the unknowability of language, its messiness and how to has the potential to become visual, performative and moveable. Themes include emptiness, silence, ambiguity and doubt.

Niamh Seana has performed and exhibited both nationally and internationally, recent projects include UK New Artists Common Interest residency, Catalyst Arts Propagate workshop, CCA~Derry~Londonderry DeMo reciprocal residency and HOUR Bergen International Performance Festival.

Niamh Seana Meehan will be revisiting her performance work ‘LOVESEAT’ which took place at Re-Vision 2019. She created the concept of ‘LOVESEAT’ in response to modern societies continued celebration of gender norms, roles and relations, and gender inequality.

“Judith Butler has discussed this topic extensively in her gender performativity, utilising Butler’s theory this work addresses the need for modern society to question why this celebration is still happening? Within education schools are trying to eliminate the gendering of pupils, however, in order to continue with this argent change, should it not be starting from birth?”

Niamh Seana Meehan will perform LOVESEAT at Golden Thread Gallery on the 26th November.

Reuben Brown | Seeing You Seeing Me

Reuben Brown (b.2001) is a q***r sculptor and new media artist, specialising in 3D-CG (computer-generated) animation, interactive installation and performance, based in Belfast, N.Ireland. He is currently a studio-holder at Queen Street Studios, Belfast, and is undertaking a residency at the Digital Arts Studios, Belfast. Reuben graduated from Belfast School of Art in June 2022 with a BA Fine Art Sculpture/Lens. The core intention of his practice is to explore the unique collective relationships we have with our bodies and identities in relation to the Internet, and to simultaneously appreciate and critique the various self-destructive and fetishistic avatars and iterations of ourselves that we forge and perform as on the Internet.

“I am thoroughly invested in exploring our complex relationships with our bodies, identities and the Internet and the cultural phenomena of forging and then performing as destructive and fetishised iterations of ourselves online. I have began pursuing a research-driven, experimental project, spanning a diverse range of digital and space-orientated media, inspired by our daunting progression towards advanced digitisation. I have been creating 3D-CG animation in dialogue between artist and machine, and a series of sculpture and ephemeral interactive installations combining sensors and machine-learning technologies. I hope to advance this experimental series through the creation of performance.”

Reuben will be performing as part of a series entitled ‘Watery Horizone’ at Golden Thread Gallery on the 26th November.
