Maverick, a hard rock band from Belfast, Northern Ireland. We’re Maverick, a hard rock band based in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

We were formed in the summer of ’12. Within 6 months we had released our first EP “Talk’s Cheap”, and with that we were able to secure our first record deal with Massacre Records. Through them, we released our debut album “Quid Pro Quo” in November ’14, and then went on tour with The Poodles the following year.Following on from the success of that tour, we then signed to our current record label,

Metalapolis Records to release our second album “Big Red” in August ’16. To promote that album we toured with Treat. R.I.P to a long-time and dear friend of Maverick.

Jay Welsh supported us for over 12 years, and we are deeply saddened to hear of his sudden passing - he was a lovely guy.

Our deepest condolences to his family as they navigate this impossibly difficult time.

All the best, mate.
We will miss you.

DID YOU KNOW - 'The Last One' was written in just under one hour by Dave and Ric?

Ric arrived at Dave's apartment with chords for a 'ballad' and within an hour 'The Last One' was born.

Ryan added some trademark finishing touches and glitter afterwards - and to this day, it remains one of our favorite ever Mav songs - it is something we are immensely proud of.

But, one of our very favorite things about the song is the trust that our fans and friends showed us with beautiful images and stories of lost loved ones for the music video (check it out on YouTube!).

Thanks to each and every one of you for participating and making it so special for us.

Please give a warm Maverick welcome to our new Bass player - Mike Ross!

Mike has been our long-time drummer (3 full length albums and our EP!) but will now be the other half of the rhythm section - not to mention providing sweet backing vocals.

We often do things a little differently, and this is no exception - our full lineup is now complete and is as follows:

David Balfour - Lead vocals
Ryan Balfour - Guitar / backing vocals
Ric Cardwell - Guitar / backing vocals
Mike Ross - Bass / backing vocals
Joél Cirera - Drums

Please welcome to the Maverick family, Mr Joel Cirera! (ex Crazy Lixx) 🇸🇪

We are thrilled to announce that Joel will be joining Maverick as our live drummer for all shows going forward.

There are few drummers who could bring the technical precision and power needed for Mav songs like 'Myrmidon' and 'Cold Star Dancer' - but with his metal background, Joel is very much equal to the task.

We shared the stage with Crazy Lixx a number of times, and were always a fan of his powerhouse style. But more importantly - his sense of humor matches the band perfectly and he is an awesome guy.

So please join us in giving him the warmest possible welcome!

And a huge personal thanks to Joel for being a part of our live outfit, we are absolutely stoked to have him with us.

Hi all, as previously stated - we have some GOOD NEWS and announcements coming soon.

In the meantime, a little bit of bad news;

Unfortunately we have had to close our online store.

With postage costs rising constantly (especially international postage) - it has now become too expensive to ship items while covering manufacturing and packing costs.

And we simply refuse to pass this expense onto you, our loyal fans and friends.

This closure is not permanent, we are sourcing alternative means and a cheaper website / shop interface etc - so Maverick merch will be available again in the future (and of course at future live shows) - we are just not sure when this will be at present.

But as always, we will update you guys!

For now please continue to enjoy our music for free on your local streaming platforms. And please know that Maverick merch is STILL available on websites like Amazon, EMP and of course the official Metalapolis Records store.

Recently visiting the wonderful got us reminiscing about days of old and 'forgotten' MAV tracks.

'Beyond the gates' features some great work from Mike and Ryan and some great lyrics - and despite at one time being part of the live set is a bit of a forgotten gem in our catalog.
