With the Scots having had their chance to vote for freedom, and everyone's general agreement that this was Democracy In action then it is clearly time that we in the North also have that Democratic Right and privilege to show the World how the people feel.
Unionists continually claim that there is a 2/3rds majority in favour of staying in the UK, yet they deny the people the right to put that to the test. Surely if they are so sure they should be willing to go to the polls and get the question answered.
Unionists are now saying that Now is not the time for such a vote. Well OK, let us all demand a Vote on the status of the North to be held along with the Stormont Poll in 2020 - That's not Now, that's 6 years away and also allows for the cost to be covered during the Stormont elections. If there is not a majority for a United Ireland then the parties will have their answer and can Administer the North as elected. If the People do vote for United Ireland then they can start debating how they intend to deliver on that as clearly it is likely to take a few years to negotiate with both the British and Irish Governments.
There may be a need for more than just one question on the ballot paper. There may be the main question of for and against a UI, but then there would also need to be a question on whether the people want a Federal Ireland and a Government in the North remaining - as this may be the best for everyone.
At the end of the day, WE Are Entitled to the same Democracy and Rights to have that question on leaving the UK as Scotland has.
