WORLD EQUAL is an advertising & promotions company in the form of an online and hard copy magazine and events platform. Dedicated primarily to the arts, creativity & natural talent, motivated by embracing cultural diversity, it is run by two artists from Ireland. Professional portrait photographer and former lecturer of 15 years Shelley Rodgers is the founder and director at WORLD EQUAL. The natur
ally gifted artist and singer songwriter Kieran Sherry is co-founder and director. Focusing on finding a balance between both alternative and commercial trends in arts and fashion they began their journey in 2014 during an unforeseen and sudden life changing experience. Shelley had to leave her photography teaching job to look after her mother at home who was passing away with terminal cancer. Shelley founded & formed her own online fashion & arts publication called EQUAL Magazine, which has now become known as WORLD EQUAL Magazine. With the ethos of "life being too short", giving as many different kinds of people as possible a chance to be supported and helped became a mantra in these two artists minds. Maybe every dark cloud does have a silver lining! With Kieran's assistance, after the first two years and approximately six publications behind them the EQUAL or WORLD EQUAL magazine became the blue print for Belfast/Newry/Edinburgh & London Alternative Fashion Week. This 'Alternative' fashion event was the first of its kind to successfully establish itself in the UK & Ireland among the long time, highly competitive, domineering, mainstream commercial fashion industry. With a more humanistic approach it swam through the tenacious waters and teeth of the fashion industry pioneering a new wave some called "Alternative Chic". Breaking down old boundaries with forward thinking and exciting new ideas their enterprise has opened doors to an abundance of new talent across the board. Shelley & Kieran have found that as artists themselves, supporting and promoting other artists and all kinds of people, it can be a very rewarding endeavour on both a personal and professional level.
