🌊 Poetry & The Sea | 21 Nov | Workshop
Explore the sea in poetry, from coastlines and wildlife to voyaging, migration and our changing climate. Led by Stephen de Búrca, the workshop combines close reading with prompts to get you writing.

An event, an eight-week course and a one-day workshop, with three different ways to enjoy poetry at The Crescent.

We’re delighted to welcome Louise O’Neill to Belfast this evening for the launch of her new memoir, A Bigger Life, as part of our Belfast Book Festival Bookmark series.

Louise will be joined by writer Lucy Sweeney Byrne for a conversation about relationships, starting again and finding possibility in uncertainty.

We hope you all had a gorgeous . Here's a little look at what we had happening around the building yesterday. 🌙🎨🎶

We had live painting in the garden, solo cello in The Cube, contemporary dance in the Studio, life drawing, journalling, storywriting and plenty of creativity to join in with, plus Husk Cafe keeping everyone fuelled along the way ☕🍰

Thank you to all the brilliant artists and organisations who shared their talents, and to everyone who popped in, stayed a while, had a go, and took it all in.

✨ This Friday is Culture Night Belfast 2026 ✨

The Crescent will be open and delivering activity between 4.00 - 7.00pm and we've useful put together a useful plan for how you might fit in The Crescent into your plans:

⭐ 4.20pm: Arrive at The Crescent and contribute to Aly Harte’s abstract painting 🎨 in the garden 🌳

⭐ 4.30pm: Pop into The Cube and hear some gorgeous solo cello 🎶 (including a world premiere….) presented by Belfast Ensemble

4.50pm: A quick coffee and a snack ☕ 🍰 fromCafe Husk and a spot of journalling with Ian Megrath 📖

⭐ 5.10pm: There's a stunning contemporary dance 🧑‍🩰performance (first time the piece is in Belfast) in the Studio. Supported by Maiden Voyage Dance

⭐ 5.30pm: Once the performance finishes, a Life Model will replace the dancers. Artist Leah Davis will be doing a live sketching 🖼️ of both the dancers and the clothed life model - or find an easel and have a go yourself ✍️

We are excited 🤩 for Saturday Afternoon Trad Sessions to return to The Crescent this Autumn 🎻🪈

Led by banjo player James Carson, who will be joined by fellow musicians, come along and join us for an afternoon of tunes, songs and craic in the Café space of the building 🎶

📅 The first session is Saturday 3 October 1.00 - 3.00pm 🕐

These sessions are free to attend, family friendly and open to all 🎻

You are more than welcome to come along with your instrument and join in on this relaxed, informal session, learn a new tune or two, or just sit back with a coffee and a snack ☕️🧁 from Café Husk and enjoy!
