Under 18s are welcome in the venue with their parents before 8pm but cannot attend events after that time as the venue is licenced. Please note door times on tickets are doors opening times, so you may not be able to get access to the venue beforehand.

- 𝗝𝗨𝗦𝗧𝗟𝗔𝗡𝗭: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗵 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 🚜🌞
𝗪𝗘𝗗𝗦 𝟱𝘁𝗵 - 𝟱𝗽𝗺

As part of the Belfast Fleadh, JUSTLANZ is proud to present a special storytelling performance by Fermanagh's very own local storyteller Nuala O’Toole — The Fermanagh Story.
This powerful piece was born from the Visions Workshop, created by the talented Scottish creative artist Lorraine Thompson, and has since evolved into a moving reflection of rural life and the future of farming. We are honoured to bring this farmer-informed work to a wider audience.

Without giving too much away, The Fermanagh Story gives voice to the lived experiences of local farmers, exploring the theme of a Just Transition through the rich and timeless Irish tradition of storytelling. It weaves together real insights, hopes, and concerns, offering an authentic glimpse into the relationship between farming, nature, and community.

Storytelling has long been a powerful tool in Ireland for sharing knowledge and preserving culture. In this piece, it becomes a bridge — connecting rural and urban perspectives and inviting audiences to better understand the people and landscapes that sustain us.

Following a successful performance at the NI Science Festival in Fermanagh, this production now travels to the “Big Smoke,” bringing the voices of small farmers to the heart of the city. It celebrates their deep connection to the land while opening up an important conversation about the future.

The JUSTLANZ project is rooted in exploration, creativity, and collaboration — working to imagine and shape a future that works for everyone. Through initiatives like this, it champions creative thinking as a means to spark dialogue, inspire change, and build understanding.

𝐅𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐡 𝐚𝐭 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐁𝐨𝐱 - 𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜 𝐑𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐬⚡️🪕
𝐒𝐀𝐓 𝟖𝐭𝐡, 𝟐𝐩𝐦

Hailing from Co Armagh Electric Reels are a kids folk/ trad band which consists of kids aged 11-13. They frequently play in the City hall and festivals throughout Ireland delivering sentimental ballads and lively traditional tunes, breathing new life into timeless Irish folk classics with a modern youthful twist.

Expect spirited vocals with tight harmonies, soaring banjo and whistle with a solid rhythmic drive on the drums. Electric Reels have raised thousands for Alzheimer’s Research and are going from strength to strength.

This sincere wish of love, joy and hope extends to those who cannot make it to the parade today too.

Solidarity is a noun but it is a verb, a doing word too and inside the venue and in the wider community we aspire to be a place of celebration, of safety, of inclusion and of solidarity for the LGBTQIA+ community.

A venue is only as welcoming as those who are welcomed into it and it’s the laughter, the love, the highs and the lows of each person who chooses to visit The Black Box that decorates our walls and breathes life and vibrancy into the place.

We could write a lot about Pride and its importance, but we find it better and more fitting to do and to keep doing.

Artists, musicians, community workers, PAs, our regulars and those yet to visit, have a beautiful Belfast Pride Parade today.

𝗧𝗨𝗘𝗦 𝟰𝘁𝗵 - 𝟵.𝟭𝟱𝗽𝗺

Lonesome George’s song-writing (in both English and Irish language) deals with love, life and revolution; addressing mental health, the treatment of refugees and the environmental crisis.

These ideas are brought to life through multi-layered riff-led grooves; 4 & 5 part harmonies, ethereal & ambient pieces; rip-roaring reels and other dance rhythms; and a selection of flavours from various genres interwoven to create a unique sound; changing from song to song, all while remaining rooted in the Irish tradition.

𝗠𝗢𝗡 𝟯𝗿𝗱 - 𝟮𝗽𝗺 & 𝟳𝗽𝗺

A unique experience that brings together Ireland’s rich musical heritage and cutting-edge science. At its heart is the harp, a symbol of Irish identity for over 1,000 years brought vividly to life by acclaimed Belfast harpist Ursula Burns.

Blending tradition with bold experimentation, Ursula delivers a captivating live performance using neuroscience techniques to explore and measure Ursula’s brain during her playing. Alongside the music, Dr Niamh Kennedy of Ulster University reveals the hidden science behind it all, showing how playing the harp shapes the brain’s wiring, movement, and creativity. Drawing on her research imaging the brains of harpists, she uncovers the extraordinary neurological processes behind musical skill and improvisation.

Combining live performance, storytelling, and science, this event offers audiences not just exceptional music and some Belfast craic, but a deeper understanding of why Irish music continues to resonate so powerfully across generations!

Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2026 is taking place for the first time in Belfast from August 2nd until August 9th. It is an international event and the city anticipates 800,000 visitors.

We’re very excited and we’ve been working hard to program a lineup showcasing some incredible artists from near and far whose music weave the threads of traditional Irish and contemporary music together.

It’s a privilege for us to extend this invite to these artists but we are also mindful that the Fleadh is built upon opening spaces to everyone who wants to immerse themselves in the organic and very special atmosphere of the session.

It’s there where songs are shared, memories made and lifelong friendships forged and in between our scheduled Fleadh events we have been sure to make space for sessions to be welcomed.

With only a matter of days before the Fleadh begins we would like to extend a warm welcome to those who come through our doors regularly and those who are yet to visit equally.

We wish you a fun, safe and memorable Fleadh and we look forward to seeing and hearing you.

Bouzouki players Nikos Petsakos (Greece) and Martin Coyle (Ireland) explore the journey of the bouzouki from early 1900's Greece, across Europe and its entry into Ireland.

Rebetiko, traditional arrangements from various European countries as well as modern compositions presented on Greek Tri-chordo, Irish four course and Baglama.

RUÁ's ‘hauntingly cinematic’ and ‘ethereal’ songwriting has been compared to the likes of Adrianne Lenker and Jeff Buckley to name a few. Her live shows take you on a journey from intricate guitar lines paired with 'hypnotising' melodies; to vivacious gypsy-folk stories of fortune tellers and ghosts; to spoken word and soundscapes. Conán Mullan will be joining on fiddle bringing a trad influence to RUÁ'S genre-spanning sound.

RUA's last record, the Magic Theatre, is a 'spell-binding creation that pedals poetic rawness across a wistful soundscape' (Hotpress)

RUÁ has supported the likes of John Francis Flynn, Honeyfeet, David Keenan, John Spillane, and has performed several shows alongside the Ulster Orchestra.
