Bruiser's good friend Nana Funk - is getting up close and personal — and she’s bringing her army of fans along for the ride!

She’s sick of stadium life and is now touring to smaller venues so she can get up close and personal with her army of fans. She’s got a bee in her bonnet and wants you to get on it! 🐝

This is no teatime with your granny — this is An Evening With Nana Funk!

Get taken on a hilarious and emotional musical rollercoaster as Nana challenges ageism and how aged/aging people are portrayed in society.

From delicate ballads to 90s dance, and all the way through to full-on ROCK, Nana gives her not-so-subtle opinions on what it means to be “age appropriate”.

Meet our second panellist: Emma Dawson!

We’re delighted to announce Emma Dawson as our second panellist for Beyond the Spotlight: Promoting Work in Theatre, part of the Equal Arts Unlocked Webinar Series.

Emma Dawson is an emerging Northern Irish stage manager and set, lighting & sound designer. Just a year into the industry, she has already been awarded the first ever technical Invest bursary from Theatre and Dance NI and completed the ABTT Bronze Award.

Emma has worked on a range of shows across Belfast, building experience across stage management and technical theatre. Highlights include Bold Girls (Centre Stage), Ulster American (Bright Umbrella), Alice in Wonderland (Dark Forest) and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (East Broadway).

As an emerging theatre professional, Emma brings a fresh and exciting perspective on developing a career in stage management, technical theatre and design. We’re looking forward to hearing about the journey into the industry and the experiences that have helped shape her career so far.

Meet our first panellist: Natalie Murphy-West

We’re delighted to announce Natalie Murphy-West as our first panellist for Beyond the Spotlight: Promoting Work in Theatre, part of the Equal Arts Unlocked Webinar Series.

Natalie has over 15 years experience working in Production for stage, and now works in Casting & Producing for screen.

Her Stage & Production Management credits include main stage productions, tours, & festivals across the UK, Ireland, & Europe, specifically in her home city of Belfast with the MAC, Lyric Theatre, & Grand Opera House. She is proud to have worked on screen projects including the IFTA-winning and BAFTA-nominated short film "Nostalgie", as well as the folk horror "Banshee", which recently showed at Galway Film Fleadh, and the Channel 5 TV series "Murder Most Puzzling".

She is proud to support local Belfast theatre companies like Bruiser Theatre Company, & is Vice-Chair of the board at Tinderbox Theatre Company.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part in this year's Bruiser Summer School!

The final performance was a brilliant celebration of two weeks of creativity, dedication and hard work, and it was wonderful to share it with so many family, friends and supporters.

We're already looking forward to Bruiser Summer School 2027. Applications open in Autumn 2026, and we can't wait to welcome back familiar faces alongside those joining us for the very first time.

🎭 Week 1 complete! 🎭

What an incredible first week of Bruiser Summer School 2026! We've loved welcoming so many fantastic young performers, who have thrown themselves into every challenge with energy, creativity and enthusiasm.

This week, participants have been exploring the first piece of our showcase, Burglars by David Rudkin, under the direction of our Facilitator in Residence, Rob, and Artistic Director, Lisa. They've also been developing their performance skills through voice and music sessions with and movement and dance workshops with .

We can't wait to see what Week 2 brings as everything comes together for our end-of-programme showcase!
