The Rainbow Factory School of Performing Arts was launched by YouthAction Northern Ireland in March 1990. It continues to be seen as one of the largest, most exciting and innovative part-time Performing Arts programmes established in Northern Ireland. The Rainbow Factory currently runs weekly classes in dance, drama, technical theatre, event management, musical theatre & vocal coaching. Over 450 y
oung people attend weekly workshops in our Belfast base and outreach projects. Young people aged 10 - 25 years from all communities, backgrounds and abilities are welcome. The Youth Arts staff team are supported by experienced facilitators, peer tutors and volunteers to deliver a high quality arts programme underpinned by youth work principles. In Belfast we are based in YouthAction NI's purpose built youth resource base 14 College Square North. Classes are held in The Rainbow Factory Studio Theatre and workshop space. North creates opportunities for young people within and outside Rainbow Factory to perform, work in partnership with other youth &community groups and participate in leadership roles. Events include Showcases, Gig Nights, Youth Arts festivals, Summer Musicals and Christmas Pantomime. Students are encouraged to fulfil their potential through artistic, personal and social development. Each class elects a representative who is part of the Members Forum Group. These young leaders contribute to the management and growth of the Rainbow Factory engaging in decision making processes and encourage students to demonstrate the members ship code- Respect, Attend and Promote. The Normal term fee is £60 (3 terms per year Sept-June) this covers the students weekly class in Drama& Dance plus any production/s they may be involved in (excluding our Summer Production).
