Green Woodwork Ireland

Green Woodwork Ireland Founded by Stephen Ryan, producing, demonstrating and teaching the skills of non powered traditional woodcraft.

Green woodwork is an ancient woodland craft that uses freshly cut timber, which allows the wood to be shaped easily by hand tools into household items such as furniture and kitchen-ware.Woodland crafts also have a foundation of environmental sustainability, minimising impact on the environment via locally sourced coppice materials and use of hand tools, rather than imported timbers electrical equipment.

Demonstrating at the Edenderry Village Fair on Saturday, the little village where I live. Thanks to the Community Association for organising the event. A bit of sunshine makes all the difference! 🌞

Working with the guys from Antrim Mens Shed, making frame stools. I have worked with these men for over 10 years now, they have built up their skills over years to make some fantastic pieces. During this workshop we are making frame stools. The next job will be assembling and weaving the frames.

A message from Fiona at Blesma Northern Ireland: After 7 weeks our traditional woodworking course has come to an end and what a journey it has been. A group of 6 Blesma member have came together at Green Woodwork Ireland guided by the oh so talented Steve Ryan. Using only hand tools, from raw wood very unique personal pieces were crafted. There were plenty of laughs, concentration and camaraderie all whilst learning a new skill. In our outreach activities it's never solely about the task at hand, it's about connection. Purpose and supporting one another.
We 'wooden' have experienced this without our ' Fulfilling Futures' funding programme so a huge Blesma thank you goes to this and of course Steve Ryan.
Fell the pride of everything you have achieved a real labour of love. We will miss this - so what's next Steve Ryan? Blesma, The Limbless Veterans Blesma Northern Ireland
