"I design and make wheel thrown ceramics both sculptural and functional. The first and most important element is the material, its colour, textural qualities and often with the addition of local clays, sand and shingle from the Co. Antrim coast."

"I like to combine different clays often of contrasting qualities, sometimes altered with additions or mixed agate during the throwing. "

We can't wait to see paul's work again in person at Belfast Potters Market on the 10th December!

Phew, the dramas I’ve had this last few weeks. The last summer show of an amazing and busy season.

I have been so quiet in here, mostly due to kiln malfunctions. Finally yesterday I got some amazing results of new β€˜coastal vessels’ that I had been making what feels like an age ago.

I had developed new work using foraged clays that I developed over the last year. With the kilns not behaving I am only just now seeing the results of two years development.

The larger piece shown above I feel is my favourite piece to date. I feel I have perfected the technique, pushed the clay to its limits, found the most exciting combination of clays and shingle.

Now let’s see if I get it back home to or it finds a new home.

I will be bringing my β€˜brick’ and β€˜wood’ collections this Sunday to Belfast to join a host of irelands top potters.

Come and pay us a visit at CS Lewis square from 10-6:00, not only some of NI’s best ceramics but there will also be throwing demonstrations.
