Today marks another year without Ian, known to everyone as Big O.

Seven years on since that terrible night in 2019, and the pain hasn’t faded. If anything, it sits heavier in Cluan Place and right across East Belfast.

A devoted dad to Toni and Ryan, a partner to Vera, a beloved son to Margaret & Harry, a brother, a friend, a comrade and a fearless voice for our community at the interface.

He stood tall for what he believed in, always ready to help, protect, or just have a laugh.

Courageous, selfless, and a true loyalist– that’s how we’ll always remember him.

The streets still feel empty without his big presence, his banter, and that roar of a laugh echoing around. Every parade, every gathering, every quiet moment– he’s there in spirit.

We marched again this year in his memory, banners high, flutes playing, showing the world that East Belfast hasn’t forgotten one of its own.

Big O, you’re still deeply missed every single day.

You’ll never be forgotten.

Rest easy, big man. We’ll keep raising a glass, keeping your memory alive– until we meet again.
From all your friends in The Loyal East Belfast.

Taken from us too soon
UNBOWED, UNBROKEN. 💙💜

Fantastic work from The Belfast Bands Forum who we are proud to be a part of. Great to see the kids being provided with education around the band scene. Follow their page to see the brilliant work they do🇬🇧

🎶 School Outreach Programme 🎶

Today, the Forum kicked off our School Outreach Programme with Blythefield Primary School 🙌
The P7 class took part in our Marching Band Workshop, exploring everything marching bands 🥁🪈

This marks the start of a 10-week project, with Beyond Skin delivering 4 weeks of in-school sessions, followed by 6 weeks of drumming tuition 🥁

In addition, the school received 130 of our educational activity booklets.

A brilliant start we’re excited to see this project grow!

Yesterday, during our annual Remembrance Parade and Service, we paused to honour and remember a truly special friend of the band, John Johnston.

John was an unwavering supporter who stood by us through thick and thin. Always ready to lend a hand in any way he could.

We continue to think of his family, friends and The Young Calvay Volunteers at this time.

🖤❤️💛

Tonight we came together to remember our dear friend Ian “Big O” Ogle.

As we do every year, and will continue to do, we walked with honour, dignity, and pride to honour a devoted father, son, brother, and cherished friend.

Big O was the true epitome of a bandsman and loyalist—he is still deeply missed in his beloved Cluan Place and across East Belfast.

Taken from us far too soon by drug dealers masquerading as loyalists.

We would like to thank everyone who attended.

Big O, Unbowed and Unbroken. 💙💜

Today marks another anniversary as we gather for the parade in honour of our dear friend, Ian ‘Big O’ Ogle, taken from us far too soon.

We walk these streets of East Belfast with heavy hearts but heads held high, carrying his name with unwavering honour, pride, and unbreakable loyalty. Your spirit lives on in every step we take.

Everybody welcome, parade leaves The Raven Social Club at 1645.

Last night members attended the service for Alan ‘Skilly’ Skillen, along with various other bands and his beloved Shankill Protestant Boys.

It was an honour to attend to pay our respects to a dedicated bandsman, one who will be missed in the ranks of the SPB and also the Shankill Road.

Rest easy Skilly

The officers and members would like to express our deepest sympathies to our esteemed members William & Leo on the passing of their father and grandfather.

Our thoughts are with them and the family circle at this time.
