When we opened 6 years ago we invited the great Irish jazz guitarist Mike Nielsen to play. We only used half the room then and had no stage.
It's fitting now that he's back to kick off our very last 6 concerts at the Hack club. He is accompanied by one of our very favourite Irish jazz drummers Shane O'Donovan and New York jazz bassist Brian Questa.

"Perhaps the most truly original voice in Irish jazz” ”
Sunday Tribune
““Mike Nielsen – the most gifted and original guitarist here” ”
The Irish Times

See you Friday

Hi everyone,
Some bad news.
Scott’s Jazz Club's residency at the Hack Club will come to an end on the 27th of September, and all concerts for the rest of the year will be postponed. We’ve had six great years in Ballyhackamore; welcomed hundreds of world-class jazz musicians, and thousands of audience members from across the world. It’s been a good run!

We’re talking to a few different venues for 2027, and we will be back for next year. All ticket holders for cancelled concerts will automatically receive a full refund.

In the meantime, the remaining gigs in September will still be going ahead, and this is your last chance to see Scott’s Jazz Club in this venue! Our mini-festival will still be going ahead (in a reduced capacity) at the end of September, and here’s what we have coming up:

4th September: Mike Nielsen’s Sound Recipes
11th September: Trio-SKW
18th September: Paul Dunlea Organ Trio
25th September: Aren’t Blakey
26th September: Belleville Gypsy Jazz
27th September: Linley Hamilton Plays Kind Of Blue

Tickets are on sale for these now, and we’d love to see as many of you as possible to help us go out in style!

Friday night's Hayley Kavanagh Septet concert was simply brilliant, and to an absolutely packed room - just what we want to see!

All the best,
Scott, Cormac, Richard

What do you get when you mix a hot Peruvian guitarist with a star American trumpeter and add a top Irish rhythm section?
Find out this Friday when Rodrigo Almonte reimagines the music of the Peruvian Andes through contemporary jazz and improvisation. Led by Almonte (guitar), the band features Aidan Gray (double bass) and Michael McCarthy (drums), one of the most exciting rhythm sections in the Irish jazz scene. They are joined for this performance by special guest American star trumpeter JQ Whitcomb.

Markus Strothmann's Emerald from last Friday. The music doesn't stop when the Fleadh ends! Next Friday, we welcome Cork-born but now Paris-based singer Liv Monaghan. Monaghan cites Joni Mitchell, Nina Simone, Jeff Buckley, and Duke Ellington as her vocal and musical inspirations. Her beautiful, evocative songs perfectly suit her expressive voice, building a mesmerizing, hypnotic world that bewitches the listener. See you Friday, Cormac.
