Playfully drifting…
That’s what I’ve been doing over the last week as I recover from my latest surgery. It’s been nice to have the time to get the pencils out!
Hoping that as part of my recovery I can get out walking. I’m desperate to see the otters who live in the nearby river. ..can you tell?!

The things we do for our kids!
Our eldest starts a new school in September. A switch to be closer to home. It’s her last couple of days at her current school. I suggested this evening I could get her a pretty notebook to get her friends to sign before she leaves. In our usual style we sprint to the shop 5 minutes before closing time. No pretty notebooks in sight. Just a plain white one.
ā€œI’ll get this one mummy and you can draw a flamingo on the front or somethingā€. šŸ¤”
I hope I’ve met the brief. šŸ¤žšŸ¼
As a flamingo addict and as my biggest critic I’m sure she will tell me that this type of flaming doesn’t exist. šŸ˜†
Every 10 year old loves a bit of bling so it’s got a gem for an eye. Hoping that gives me a few extra brownie points!
I quite like this fancy fella. You might just see him as a lino print in my shop soon!

Life is better in a frame.
We were sailing in Cornwall last week. This was one of the sunnier moments on our ā€˜cruise’ to Fowey.
As you walk along the road to the cove, there’s a garden wall with lovely holes scooped out, so you can sn**ch a peak across the harbour to Polruan.
What’s even better is they’re all at different heights too, so small people don’t even need a ā€œliffy-uppyā€ to enjoy it!
I like this picture with the hole in the wall adding it’s frame. It’s not the prettiest frame. It’s all bumpy and gnarly and imperfect. But it’s my frame. I like the memory of us all peering through different holes on our tippy-toes and sharing what we could see.
It got me thinking about how a frame makes you see things differently. Sometimes our frame of mind does this for us. It might restrict our view, but sometimes that can be quite nice, even if it is bumpy and gnarly! Sometimes it’s nice not to fill our heads with all the other stuff around the outside.
We always talk about broadening our views. Is having a restricted frame on life ok?…maybe as long as you know the limits of your frame?! .maybe I’ve spent too long at sea..

Having fun printing these jellies today.
What bizarre creatures jellyfish are! I’m always fascinated by them when I see them here in the South West, elegantly floating past.
Last year whilst sailing in Cornwall we sailed through hundreds of them all bobbling along in the summer sun.
Did you know a group of jellyfish is called a ā€˜bloom’ a ā€˜swarm’ or …wait for it… a ā€˜smack!’
Haha!
Somehow that doesn’t seem right for something so squishy.
After a long family debate we decided a ā€˜jingle’ of jellyfish would be better. šŸ˜†
What do you think? Surely there’s got to be a better word?!

I’ve been quiet on here for a bit. I’ll be honest, I lost my creative mojo for a while.
I was putting too much pressure on myself to be creative, rather than just let it evolve and bubble up naturally.
As hoped, it has come back. I’m brimming with ideas and enthusiasm for new projects. It just shows that sometimes you need to just pause for a while, relax and take stock of what is important.
Can you relate?
Are you rushing to be somewhere and do something, When a bit of brain space first might be a better idea?!
