** NEW SHOW **

Straight outta Norwich, The Cain Pit are the loudest, weirdest thing to crawl out of the English countryside since someone tried to put mustard in tea. Delivering an electric blend of bluegrass, punk, and rockabilly, they’re not to be missed.

The Cain Pit mash up the energy of punk rock with the twangy heart of bluegrass, a pinch of rockabilly and other rootsy nonsense. Imagine a bluegrass band that discovered distortion pedals—or a punk band that fell into a hay bale rolled down an hill and splashed into the Norfolk Broads—and you’re getting close. They like to think they’re bridging the gap between genres… though it’s more like they built the bridge, set it on fire, and are now gleefully dancing in the ashes, hollering sugar-coated melodies with crunchy, bitter centres.

**NEW MEGA SHOW**

We are really excited to announce that The Waeve are heading to Esquires in a few weeks time, for an exclusive warm up show.

The WAEVE is a coming together of two musicians, Graham Coxon (Blur) and Rose Elinor Dougall (The Pipettes), who have formed a new, singular, sonic identity, a powerful elixir of cinematic British folk-rock, post-punk, organic songwriting and freefall jamming.

The WAEVE’s most recent studio album City Lights is a collection of 10 songs featuring lead tracks including ‘You Saw’, ‘City Lights’, ‘Broken Boys’, ‘Song For Eliza May’ and ‘Moth to the Flame’.

City Lights illustrates the evolution of their collaborative musicianship and sees the band’s sound solidified into something bolder, more expansive and self-assured. Produced by James Ford, the band’s second album features Graham and Rose on vocals, as well as keyboards, guitar, bass guitar, drums and saxophone.

Tickets on sale right now from Seetickets - available at Slide Record Shop tomorrow afternoon (if any remain).

We're pleased to be working with Bedford Borough Council to bring another eclectic line up of artists to Bedford River Festival's main stage in Russell Park on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th July.

The River Festival is the second largest free festival in the UK, second only to Carnival. Held bi-annually, the event shines a light on Bedford's river and town, with a number of community areas and events over the weekend.

As always, we have tried to program a mixture of exciting national touring artists that regularly play major festivals, while giving local artists a chance to play the biggest stage over the weekend.

On the Saturday, we are joined by Ska legends, The Beat, Sambroso All Stars playing The Buena Vista, The Drum & Bass Band, upcoming indie-sleaze artist, Gemma Rogers, TV Theme Tunes with a difference, Not A Band and local blues-rockers, Dois Padres.

On Sunday, Uncle Funk's Disco Inferno close the festival with a mammoth 90 minute set, supported by UK Reggae stalwarts, Laid Blak, skiffle-punks Ouse Valley Singles Club (clean set...), local indie faves, The Greensands and a celebration of all things Hendrix, with Bold As Love!

We kick off each day at 1pm and hope to see you there x

Ceremony is a go! Please find set times below - doors open at 1pm, with our Ceremony house band Enjoyable Listens kicking things off at 2.30pm with a rare full band show.

We have invested in a marquee in case of rain and will have a cloakroom on until it's at capacity. Due to both our vendors pulling (naughty..), the food options are now Indian Street Food from Hyde Dhaba and tasty burgers from Eskabar.

This event is long since sold out, but you we know of a few returns, which be available on the door. We can't wait to see everyone xx
