Novus Theatre

Novus Theatre Novus meaning new, fresh, unusual, extraordinary and revived. A Bedford-based theatre company. There is no clear translation of the word ‘Novus’.

Over the years it has been thought to mean new, fresh, young, unusual, extraordinary, revived and refreshed. We as a company aim to create work, which can meet all of these possible meanings.

efreshing takes on established work, Novus aim to create work which draws an audience from all works of life. We feel there is a duty within the arts to develop artists and audience alike. In doing this, we hope to aid the foundation of a new and enticing generation of work.

Buzzing! Really excited to share the news that we have just been given ACE funding for a brand new piece of work, The Town That Banned Boys. Collaborating with writer Stephen May, we will work with men and boys across Bedfordshire in order to discuss ideas on masculinity and what it means to be a male in 2019, before working with actors to create a new script. It’s taken over 3 years to put this one together, and I couldn’t be prouder that it can finally begin!
