Meet Jonathan — the giant tortoise from St. Helena Island who was born around 1832… and is still alive today. 🐢

That means Jonathan has lived through nearly two centuries of human history. When he was born, there were no airplanes, no cars, no internet, and electricity was still rare in much of the world.

He has witnessed the rise and fall of empires, the invention of modern technology, two World Wars, and generations of humanity pass by — all while quietly living on a remote volcanic island in the South Atlantic Ocean.

Today, Jonathan is officially recognized as the oldest known living land animal on Earth, becoming a powerful symbol of resilience, time, and the extraordinary longevity of nature.

It’s hard to imagine everything this ancient tortoise has “seen” during his lifetime… 🌍✨

Jo Kane oh no!! TEDS DEAD

Comedian Bob Mortimer has shared how ‘very, very sad’ he feels following the death of Ted, the beloved dog from Mortimer and Whitehouse: Gone Fishing.
Patterdale Terrier Ted first appeared in 2020 and quickly became a fan favourite, even receiving a lifetime achievement award during the 2025 Christmas special. Mortimer, 66, said: ‘So very, very sad. Lovely Ted, the best companion and the greatest little chum. Going to miss him so much… and away, boss.’
Paul Whitehouse added: ‘Bye bye, Ted, old friend. He wasn’t a dog; he was a species all of his own. He’s gone to the great briefcase emporium in the sky. We will really miss you, mate.’
Executive producer Lisa Clark said: ‘Ted was a much-loved family pet… He took fame in his little stride and loved nothing better than messing around on the riverbanks.’
Fans also paid tribute, with many calling him an “integral part” of the show.
Ted, rescued in 2013, will make his final appearance in the upcoming ninth series. He will be “sorely missed both at home and on screen.” RIP Ted ❤️

End of an era for some of these lads who have been together for a long time. C'mon lads, let's finish the season in style.

COLTS FIXTURE THIS WEEK 🔵⚪

Colts Cup Final – This Saturday - Rugby that’s been earned, not given.


This group has put a lot into the season. Cold Tuesday nights, tough games, learning how to play for each other, and finding a way through when it hasn’t been easy. It’s been a proper Colts year.

On Saturday, they head to Oundle for the Dave Daniel’s Final — a chance to finish things together against a side we know well.

It won’t need hype. These games never do.
If you’ve watched them this year, you’ll know what this squad is about — effort, honesty, and backing each other. This is the last step before senior rugby for many of them, and moments like this matter.

If you can get over, it would mean a lot to the players to have support on the touchline.

The Imagery and style of Art Deco has always inspired me. I have painted a number of imagined scenes from that most iconic of eras. This 100 x 50cm oil on canvas (unframed) even has my favourite species of dog waiting for the bellboy to open the golden door.

Capturing a spontaneous moment.
Some time ago whilst in Scotland we came across this scene. It's cool just as a composition but what made it a moment to capture was due to it being on the back of a flat bed truck at a service station.

Clearly old working dogs that knew to stay!
