Last night, at the Summer Holiday after show party, I was presented the NODA Standing Ovation Award for Quadrophenia.
This is in recognition of all the production work which went into bringing this unique show to the stage.
This could not have been achieved without the hard work and dedication by my Production Team:
Musical Director: Brian Parker
Co-Musical Director: Simon Howe
Choreographer: Natasha Bird
Creative Direction: Emma Benest-Bartram
Also to my fantastically talented cast, crew, tech team and... the Band.

Well... it's no secret I was hoping for more than just a "nomination" today, at the NODA East Gala Awards, for 2 years worth of effort. It's not like QUADROPHENIA was an off-the-shelf production...where bundles of scripts and orchestra material is available.
Firstly it took me a whole YEAR of negotiation with Pete Townshend's production company for the "OK" to stage it (being only the 5th Group in the WORLD to present a stage musical adaptation of Quadrophenia)... there was also having to sort out the script as it was somewhat disjointed. Significantly there were only 2 of the 6 band parts available in print, the others having to be written by both Brian and Simon (my Musical Directors). The band had to rehearse for 5 months!
The cast were spot on... as were the great production team, band, choreography, backstage crew, technical crew, costume and props (I blagged dresses for the girls and a moped, on stage, for the duration of show week). Full audiences and a healthy post-show profit & loss sheet secured Spotlight's future.
But hey ho... onwards and upwards. I do it for the love and passion of a show and, most importantly, for the paying public... ensuring they leave happy 😁 my greatest prize was working with all the very talented people in that amazing production of QUADROPHENIA... we are all winners and we've all been part of a show that will never be available anytime soon, if ever. Quadrophenia is Pete Townshend's baby and one he protects x

QUADROPHENIA
So so chuffed to be nominated for Best Musical award, NODA East Region 6 (2017 shows)... fingers crossed for 13th May - gala awards dinner 😁🛵🇬🇧
Each and every one of my cast, crew, tech and band gave 100% and worked so hard over 6 months. I am immensely proud of them all x
My Musical Directors, Brian Parker and Simon Howe, had to write all the missing band parts (keyboard 2, drums, bass and acoustic guitar) - the band rehearsed weekly for 5 months, and even played during some of the rehearsals.
The band and cast had to get all 17 numbers spot on... they actually excelled with great music, acting, singing and dancing.
This East Anglia Premiere of an amateur stage musical production of QUADROPHENIA was well received. We were the fifth Group in the World to present a stage musical adaptation based on the 1979 film 😁👍🛵🇬🇧
It's not the winning... the nomination is very special... recognition of a great "team" performance 😁❤ how Mod-tastic 👍😁
