Extending a warm welcome to the latest indie label to get its own section at Snips.

Brooklyn based independent film distribution company is a home for conceptually provocative narratives and documentaries, with a rabid desire to promote under-the-radar films, music and other curiosities.

From Snips' point of view, it's a precious means by which to see boundary pushing American independent cinema - a facet of the indistry that's been struggling to be seen in this part of the world via physical media.

ELVIS is in the building in Baz Luhrmann's EPIC new film, and there's a smattering of other new titles in the shape of a Hammer restoration and PINK NARCISSUS.

As is often the way with good ideas, they usually come from customers!

At Snips there are 112 director collections, but Mark suggested there should be a degree of fluidity and rotation here too. He came up with the idea of having a 'Guest Director' spot that can be switched every month or so. This allows us to showcase the great work of filmmakers that AREN'T Scorsese or Spielberg or Kubrick.

The debut guest director is the great John Boorman, who has only recently had some of his most iconic films brought to Blu-ray and 4K UHD with EXCALIBUR and POINT BLANK.

Thanks again to Mark for this great addition! As I always say to my customers, Snips is for everyone, and you're all integral to its evolution. It's a community, and your voices and ideas are important.

A divisive individual, but someone who still maintains a loyal following.

The Woody Allen section has moved down from the ceiling area to right by the counter, and contains every single one of the New Yorker's fifty films that he directed - including the lesser seen RIFKIN'S FESTIVAL and also COUP DE CHANCE.

The expansion of the director's wall is underway at Snips!

Nine filmmakers are being added and collected for the first time: Paul Verhoeven, Russ Meyer, Sofia Coppola, Sean Baker and more.

This is very much the jewel in the Snips archive because it represents something that your local rental store CAN do, that Netflix and their friends CAN'T...
..and that's host a filmmakers entire career.

Imagine having to subscribe to multiple platforms to read the books of Stephen King! Or paying out for a plethora of apps to listen to every Beatles record!

It sounds crazy, yet we happily do it for movies.

'Convenience' has become inconvenience.

Open 'til 7.00pm. No membership. No late fees.

Independent cinema is a cornerstone for the archive at Snips, and this week I've had the time to reorganize that range of movies.

This ensures that more great filmmakers who make their films outside the studio system can have their works collected into directors sections.

For the first time I've assembled the films of Ben Wheatley, Andrea Arnold, and Harmony Korine to join longstanding residents like Gregg Araki, Todd Solondz, and Larry Clark.

Out now and ONLY available to rent at Snips is Dan Draper's latest two historically vital documentaries.

IRON LADIES (2025) tells the story of the working class women who, during the 1984-85 miner's strike, found themselves at the forefront of a battle against the British state.

LIVERPOOL STORY (2024) finds the greatest city in the UK taking centre stage in an intimate document of daily life.

Also featured on Liverpool Story is FRAMING NEW BRIGHTON, Dylan Cubbin's engaging portrait of three photographers who found inspiration in the seaside town.
