All prints are made on Canson Infinity fine art archival media that are colour/lightfast for up to 200 years. Mountboards are PH neutral in an off white textured finish. Which paper would you choose? Sometimes, the image we capture moves away from the ‘traditional’ to a more ‘arty’ result. For this type of image I would choose a Matt paper, maybe with a texture, to produce a print that moves the photograph away from the darkroom related papers and more towards a paper that conveys an artistic quality. A textured paper will also add a new element to the smoother areas of the photograph, changing the way in which the viewer perceived the work. This is one reason why we need more than one paper in our arsenal.

‘Hazy Sunset, Cley’. This is a lovely result from a hazy session around Cley in Norfolk with friends. I used ND Grads to help control the exposure difference between the sky and the land, with a little recovery of highlights/shadows in processing. This is the kind of image that would look lovely on a textured Matt cotton paper, moving things toward a more art related result. Look for 100% cotton rag papers if printing your own, with the texture of your choice… each manufacturer will produce patterns that are slightly different :)
