Sharing this incredible organisation set up in Edinburgh by Rachel Chung and Alice Jackson 💥

Strut Safe is a free service dedicated to getting anyone who feels unsafe walking home back safely.

Hours ⏰

Friday 7pm-3am
Saturday 7pm - 3am
Sunday 7pm - 1am

How does it work?

If you’re based in Edinburgh a pair of vetted volunteers will be dispatched to walk you safely to your destination and even if you’re not in Edinburgh you can still use the hotline to stay on the phone with someone until you’re home 🏡

There shouldn’t be a need for this and women and all other marginalised groups are NOT the ones who need to change...

In an interview Founder and Director, Alice Jackson said:

“Preventing violence against women and marginalised groups starts with dealing with those who perpetrate it. People need to stop turning a blind eye when they see friends or colleagues participating in that kind of behaviour"

🎉 DING! Dream Team, Installment #6 🎉

The super talented Lex Kaby will join the DING! dream team, and will direct 'LIVE' by CJ Turner McMullan & 'breakup songs to dance to' by Emily Malloy 🤩

⭐ “I am so excited to work with such an inspiring and brilliant female-led team of emerging local creatives! I think it's scary that social media is fast becoming an obsession for many young people, only accelerated by the pandemic, and I can't wait to explore this idea - the good and the bad - while working on this project!”

⭐ Lex Kaby is a director, producer and theatre-maker based in the South West, and co-founder and Artistic Director of Greedy PigTheatre Company. She has directed all of Greedy Pig Theatre Company’s productions to date, including ‘Life, Still’ (2019), ‘Close Your Eyes, I’m Filming’ (2020), ‘Nhair’ (2021) and 'The Fish Cage' (2021). As well as this, she has worked extensively as a director and choreographer for Rare Productions and as a Teacher for PQA Bath.

Lex is currently studying an MA in Directing at Bath Spa University and has recently worked as the Associate Director for Calf 2 Cow’s production ‘The Wave’ (2021), and Director of 'The Curse of the Sapphire Blade' (2021) for Black Dog Productions.

⭐ Inez says: “After spending so much time online in the past year, I absolutely cannot wait to get back into the room with these incredibly talented people to explore the crazy digital world we have all been living in!!”

⭐ Inez is an actor based in London and the Southwest. She has trained with the National Youth Theatre, Theatre Royal Bath Theatre School and Curtain Up. Her theatre credits include Hamlet at the Theatre Royal Bath, Boudica at the Egg Theatre and Roundabout (a devised production). Her television credits include Dr Who (BBC) and The Offenders (BBC)

Next up in our DING! team is Pippa Thornton, our very own Artistic Director. Pippa has written 'Let Me Take A Selfie', and 'Delilah and Dede' which she will direct. She will also be directing 'Mimi' by Alexandra Ricou 🥳

⭐ “It’s such a pleasure to work with a group of unique and talented theatremakers, and to be part of a show with so many diverse, funny, heartfelt, and poignant stories about our increasingly digital lives.”

⭐ Pippa is a writer and director based in the Southwest. She is the Artistic Director of Flipside Productions, and the Deputy Director of the Rondo Theatre in Bath. She has written and directed 'Real Life' (2017), 'FRESHER' (2019) and 'Cut Bait' (2021) for Flipside Productions, and was co-creator of 'Get F*cked' (2019), a night of new monologues exploring female perspectives on one-night-stands.

Introducing our next brilliant co-creator, CJ Turner-McMullan. They will perform the title role in 'Mimi' by Alexandra Rose They are the writer of 'LIVE', and of ' ' which they will also star in 🤩

⭐ CJ says: "My relationship with digital life has changed so much over the last year and I'm excited to be able to explore that with a team of such brilliant, creative women."

⭐ CJ is an actor, writer and director based in the Southwest, and the Creative Director of Apricity Theatre. They have an MA in Performing Shakespeare from Bath Spa University. CJ’s previous acting credits include Nox in The Curse of the Sapphire Blade, Apollo in Savage (Black Dog Productions), Paulinka in A Bright Room Called Day (Invulnerable Nothings), and Grace in There's Nothing There (Apricity Theatre, Black Dog Productions, Dumb Blonde Theatre). CJ will soon be appearing in Apricity, Black Dog and Dumb Blonde's second collaboration The White Heart Inn.

⭐ Emily says: "I'm so excited to be exploring our digital lives, in an actual physical theatre! It's been a wonderful experience to collaborate with new, talented creatives."

⭐ Emily is a German-British writer, director, producer, and actor based in the South West. She is currently The Rondo Theatre's Intern Director, and the Creative Director of Dumb Blonde Theatre. Her directing credits include the upcoming horror-comedy The White Heart Inn, touring this autumn season.

🎉 DING! Dream Team, Installment #1 🎉

We're thrilled to introduce the creative team behind our new show DING! - coming to the Rondo Theatre next month!

⭐ Alexandra Ricou will be returning to Flipside in the roles of Robin ('breakup songs to dance to' by Emily Malloy), Katie, & Delilah ('Let Me Take A Selfie', and 'Delilah & Dede, by Pippa Thornton). She has also lent her incredible writing talent to the show, and is the author of 'Mimi'.

⭐ Alexandra says "I am thrilled to be a part of this project, exploring the strange world of social media with some incredible local creatives. It’s a true pleasure to be back in the theatre and working with a collective of talented theatre makers."

⭐ Alexandra is an actor, writer and drag artist. After graduating from Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in 2017, Alexandra returned to her home county of Somerset where she has been involved in numerous creative projects. Her acting credits include Real Life (Flipside Productions, 2017), A Midsummer Night’s Dream (YAOW Theatre, 2018), The Breach (Apricity Theatre, 2019) and The Haunted Hotel (Moonstone Murder Mysteries and Fever UK, 2021). Alexandra is a performer with the Natural Theatre Company, and also performs as a drag king under the pseudonym of His Terectomy.

Well we couldn't have asked for a better debut performance of Cut Bait - and this review from Confessions of a Five Ft Two Actress is the cherry on the cake 🍒

So, so proud of Maia Tassalini Collins for her fantastic performance as Nina (and Hugo, Will, Ben, Bev, Carol, Yogini, Lucy, Uncle Tony and Nan! 😂).
