🚨 Local concert shout-out! 🎻

This Saturday there is a very special event coming to our home stage at The Forum—the Blue Light Symphony Orchestra!

Created by and for the emergency services community, the Blue Light Symphony Orchestra brings together serving and former emergency services personnel, NHS staff, members of the military and others connected to the blue light community.

They’ve put together an incredible lineup of music:
🎶 Ralph Vaughan Williams – Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis
🎻 Edward Elgar – Cello Concerto (featuring the amazing Yoanna Prodanova)
🎺 Antonín Dvořák – Symphony No. 9 "From the New World"

If you love great orchestral music and want to support our emergency services community, this one’s not to be missed, with a programme of powerful and emotionally charged music.

A huge thank you to the Garfield Weston Foundation from all of us at Bath Philharmonic Orchestra for their generous grant.

As we begin a new season, a new look and a new chapter, this support will help us create joyful, co-creative orchestral experiences while reimagining who and what audiences see on our stage. Alongside timeless masterpieces, we're championing today's musical voices, bringing more living, female and diverse composers, conductors and soloists to perform with us, and creating new music with young carers and children across the South West.

We're so grateful to have Garfield Weston Foundation alongside us as we shape what comes next.

☀️ A new name. A new look. The same joy of live orchestral music.

Today marks a major milestone in our story as Bath Philharmonia is now Bath Philharmonic Orchestra! 🎻

Over the past few years, our organisation has transformed. From opening our doors through Bath Phil for Free to expanding our creative work with Young Carers and local schools, we are moving from strength to strength—shaping how orchestral music is made, experienced, and valued. It was time our identity caught up with who we’ve become.

Alongside our new name, we’ve launched a bold new visual identity. The shapes in our updated logo represent our instruments and community coming together, with nods to musical notation and Bath’s iconic architecture.

☀️ Important update for tomorrow’s concert (Thursday 25 June):

The concert is going ahead as planned, but with very high temperatures forecast, we want to ensure everyone stays safe and comfortable.

The Forum auditorium does not have air conditioning and may become warm during the performance. Ticket buyers should check their emails for our full safety guide, and remember to:

💧 Bring a refillable water bottle – Water refill points are available, and our team will be providing extra drinking water.
👕 Wear light, loose clothing – Dress for comfort.
🧊 Cool-down zones – The Forum Coffee Shop is fully air-conditioned and will serve as a designated cool space if you need a break.
👋 We are here to help – Stewards and First Aid Responders are on-site. If you feel unwell at any point, please simply raise your hand to alert a member of staff.

Please take extra care if you are older, pregnant, attending with young children, or have an underlying health condition. If you need to discuss your visit or health needs in advance, please get in touch with our box office team at Bath Box Office.

We look forward to welcoming you and thank you for your understanding during this period of exceptionally hot weather.

☀️ Bath Philharmonia takes the stage at The Forum for a magnificent midsummer concert.

On Thursday 25 June, we are delighted to welcome two exceptional international talents to collaborate with us for this performance:

🎻 Sterling Elliott – The rising cello sensation brings remarkable artistry, warmth, and charisma to Saint-Saëns' Cello Concerto No. 1, a piece bursting with drama, lyricism, and dazzling technical brilliance. Sterling has been earning acclaim from audiences and critics alike on both sides of the Atlantic.

🎵 Kerem Hasan – Regarded as one of Britain’s most exciting young conductors, he brings his incredible precision and dynamic musicality to the stage. Kerem won the prestigious Nestlé and Salzburg Festival Young Conductors Award in the summer of 2017 and has led some of the world's finest orchestras.

The evening promises a vibrant musical journey, from the wit and energy of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro Overture to the folk-inspired rhythm and vitality of György Ligeti's Concert Românesc, before Alberto Ginastera’s Dances from Estancia delivers a thrilling, fiery finale.

Bath Philharmonia are excited to welcome guest conductor Kerem Hasan to the podium on Thursday 25 June.

Regarded as one of the most exciting young British conductors on the international stage today, Kerem has won prestigious awards and led some of the world's finest ensembles—including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, and English National Opera.

This June at The Forum, he brings his incredible precision and dynamic musicality to Bath Philharmonia. Under his baton, you'll experience a thrilling musical journey from the sparkling wit of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Marriage of Figaro Overture to the fiery, cinematic rhythms of Alberto Ginastera’s Dances from Estancia.

It promises to be a spectacular midsummer concert, and we can't wait to share this evening of live music with you.

On Saturday 13 June, experience Leonard Bernstein’s iconic Chichester Psalms at Bath Abbey. Commissioned in 1965, this brilliant setting of traditional Hebrew psalms pulses with the same rhythmic vitality and dramatic drive that Bernstein poured into West Side Story.
