"We have moments where we all come together to show the unity created when all the elements combine." 🌍🌪️🔥💧✨

What happens when you bring together students from three different schools who have never met, and ask them to create a brand-new piece of music?

The result is "Quintessence."

We are so proud to share the live performance of this collaboration filmed at The Forum on 4 February 2026.

Working with pupils from Blundell's School, Uffculme School, and Tiverton High School, our Creative Learning Team explored the concept of "The Fifth Element." The students composed the original material using their own instruments, and the Bath Phil team then arranged these ideas for our 60-piece orchestra to perform alongside them. 🎻

The resulting music embodies the balance of nature and the powerful dissonance that occurs when that balance is disrupted.

Watch the full live performance of collaboration and ultimate unity here:

A huge thank you to Dr Oliver Leadon (Blundell's School), Ms Lihou (Uffculme School), and Mr Cordon (Tiverton High School) for helping us spark this opportunity for collective music-making across Tiverton.

"We came up with the theme of embodying the balance of the four elements and then showing the disruption that is created when you add a fifth."🌍🌪️🔥💧✨Witn...
