Fresh off a Critics’ Circle Rising Artist Award and a performance at Classic FM Live with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall, Junyan Chen Junyan Chen brings that same momentum to the Bath Guildhall stage.

She took 2nd prize at the 2024 Leeds International Piano Competition, plus the chamber music prize and an award for a work by a woman composer. Trained at the Royal Academy of Music Royal Academy of Music under Joanna MacGregor , her programme here ranges from Chick Corea to Brahms, exactly the “breadth of musical curiosity” the critics have been praising.

Bath Mozartfest closes in style this year, bringing together Adam Hickox, Till Fellner and the London Philharmonic Orchestra for one night only.

Adam Hickox Adam Hickox , Chief Conductor of the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra Trondheim Symfoniorkester & Opera and Principal Conductor of the Glyndebourne Sinfonia, takes the podium for his Bath Mozartfest debut. Till Fellner, trained under Alfred Brendel and a veteran of the Berlin and Vienna Philharmonics, joins him for his final appearance of this year’s festival.

Together with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, one of London’s great orchestras, they close the festival with Beethoven’s Leonore Overture No. 3, Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 22, and Brahms’ Symphony No. 2.

Paul Lewis brings his acclaimed artistry to Bath Mozartfest 2026. One of the most distinguished pianists of the current generation, performs at St Mary’s Church, Bathwick, on Tuesday 17th November.

His Bath performance is book-ended by two of Mozart’s solo Piano Sonatas, No. 17 and No 13, interspersed by Schubert’s 3 Klavierstücke D946. He will then play Frédéric Chopin’s Polonaise No. 1 in C-sharp minor (Op. 26, No. 1) and Nocturnes (Op. 32) as part of his curated “Mozart +” concert series, which places Mozart’s piano sonatas in conversation with pieces by later master composer-pianists.

Modigliani Quartet brings “gallic cool” to Bath Mozartfest 2026.
The New York Times The New York Times says the Modigliani Quartet “plays with a gallic cool” and, hot from summer performances in Saint-Tropez and Saint-Paul-de-Vence on the French Riviera, they are bring this special quality to Bath Mozartfest on Friday 20th November.

Violinists Amaury Coeytaux and Loic Rio, violist Laurent Marfaing and cellist François Kieffer bring a varied programme that opens with Mozart’s austere and dramatic Adagio and Fugue in C minor, before turning to Debussy’s rich, modern String Quartet in G minor and Franck’s String Quartet in D major.Much in demand internationally, this is a rare chance to hear one of France’s most admired quartets at St Mary’s Church, Bathwick.

I, Clara: Dame Harriet Walter tells the life story of Clara Schumann at Bath Mozartfest 2026

Clara Wieck Schumann was far more than Robert Schumann’s wife. A child prodigy, she built an international career as a pianist and composer after her husband’s tragic death, giving over 1,500 concerts across 60 years and helping to define the piano recital as we know it today.

On Sunday 15 November at St Mary’s Church, Bathwick, her story comes to life in her own words, drawn from letters and diaries. Dame Harriet Walter narrates, while pianist Lucy Parham, who devised the programme, performs works by Clara and Robert Schumann, Brahms, Liszt, Mendelssohn and Chopin.

This is a shorter early evening event, with a 6pm start and approx. 80 minutes long, this fascinating story, presented by a leading actor, offers a great introduction to the Mozartfest.

Doors open after the afternoon’s education project concert, with a mini bar available between performances.

Leonkoro String Quartet returns to Bath Mozartfest 2026. The internationally acclaimed Leonkoro String Quartet made a memorable Bath debut in 2024, and we’re delighted to welcome the Berlin-based quartet back on Monday 16 November.

Brcthers Jonathan Schwarz (violin) and Lukas Schwarz (cello) frame the Leonokoro String Quartet, whose name is Esperanto for ‘Lionheart’ – it is not by chance an allusion to Astrid Lindgren’s children’s book of that name about two brothers!
 Joined by violinist Emiri Kakiuchi and violist Mayu Konoe, they perform Beethoven’s String Quartet No. 4, Shostakovich’s String Quartet No. 8, and Schubert’s “Rosamunde” Quartet at St Mary’s Church, Bathwick.  We are still looking for sponsors for this concert, would you like to support Bath Mozartfest and enjoy a unique musical opportunity? Dame Imogen Cooper’s farewell Bath concert.
One of Britain’s most celebrated classical pianists, Dame Imogen Cooper, brings her long and special relationship with Bath Mozartfest to a close on Thursday 19 November 2026. This concert marks her final performance in the City, and in the South West, before she steps away from the concert platform in February 2027. Her only other UK performance this season will be at London’s Wigmore Hall , making this an unmissable date for classical music lovers.

Held at St Mary’s Church, Bathwick, widely regarded as the finest of Bath’s Georgian churches, the evening opens with an intimate on-stage conversation between Imogen Cooper, Adrian Brendel and Till Fellner, reflecting on her long and distinguished career.

The programme itself is entirely of Imogen’s own choosing: a delightful and deeply personal selection of works by Mozart, Schubert, Brahms, and De Falla, performed alongside a hand-picked cast of starry musical friends: pianist Till Fellner, tenor Mark Padmore, violinists Katharine Gowers and Henning Kraggerud, violist Krzysztof Chorzelski, and cellists Sonia Wieder-Atherton and Adrian Brendel.

After the concert, from 9:30pm for the Bath Mozartfest Supper at The Bird Hotel, opposite St Mary’s Bathwick. This relaxed, informal post-concert supper is a highlight of the festival calendar, a chance to enjoy a main course, a selection of sweet treats and w**e while meeting fellow music lovers, the evening’s artists and members of the Bath Mozartfest team. It’s booked separately from the concert at £55 per person, with all proceeds supporting next year’s Mozartfest.

Whether you’re a lifelong classical music fan or new to live piano recitals, this is a rare chance to see one of the UK’s most recognised pianists, an artist whose name is known well beyond classical circles, in an intimate Bath setting.

Choir of Bath Abbey & the Mozartfest Ensemble

Bath-born soprano Ruth Williams Ruth Williams returns to Bath Abbey Bath Abbey on Saturday 14 November, a choir she belonged to as a chorister. She will appear with Huw Williams, the Abbey’s Director of Music and the Mozartfest Ensemble, a group specially created for this festival.

The evening opens with Mozart’s beloved Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, followed by works by Haydn, Taverner and Britten, finishing with Mozart’s works including his Ave verum corpus and Te Deum.

One of Europe’s leading classical music festivals, right here in the heart of Bath. Since 1991, Bath Mozartfest has brought world-renowned artists to perform chamber and orchestral music by Mozart and other great composers, building an enviable reputation for artistic excellence over more than three decades.

The festival began through a bequest from Mary Purnell, in memory of her son Mark, with its inaugural programme curated by Yehudi Menuhin. Today it’s led by Artistic Director and renowned cellist Adrian Brendel.

Opening Night: The Nash Ensemble

Bath Mozartfest begins on Friday 13th November, with the celebrated Nash Ensemble taking the stage at St Mary’s Church, Bathwick, praised by The Times (The Times and Sunday Times) as “peerless... immaculate and enthralling.”

Adrian Brendel plays cello, alongside violinists Stephen Waarts (Stephen Waarts) and Jonathan Stone (), violists Rachel Roberts (Rachel Roberts) and Brett Dean, cellist Hugo Svedberg (Hugo Svedberg), and pianist Simon Crawford-Phillips (Simon Crawford-Phillips).

The programme opens with Mozart’s Piano Quartet No. 1 in G minor, followed by Strauss’s Prelude to Capriccio for string sextet, Wagner’s Wesendonck Lieder arranged for cello and piano, and closes with Mozart’s String Quintet No. 6 in E flat major.

There’s more on offer that evening: a bar in the interval, then members of the Nash return at 9:30pm for a one-hour late night concert, Mozart’s sublime Divertimento. Come to the 7:30pm, the 9:30pm, or both, whichever suits you.
