Important travel information for anyone travelling to the promenade by train on Saturday.

It has been brought to our attention that there will be planned engineering works taking place around Bath & Chippenham over Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th September.

Saturday 12 September:

Some trains between London Paddington and Bristol Temple Meads, plus services between Oxford and Bristol Temple Meads, will use an alternative route.

These trains will not stop at either Chippenham or Bath Spa.

Other train services between London Paddington and Bristol Temple Meads will also be diverted using another alternative route instead.

These trains will not stop at Didcot Parkway, Swindon or Chippenham, but these will stop at Bath Spa.

Rail replacement buses will be in operation, please check the GWR website for further details.

Still got sewing to finish at this year's Jane Austen Festival?

Fear not! Join us at one of our sewing drop in sessions. We have two different types of sessions this year:

Oh Sew Quiet:

New for 2026… Oh Sew Quiet!
Quiet sewing drop-in session, bring your own hand-sewing project along.

If you need to sit down quietly and crack on with a sewing project (perhaps as a deadline draws near!), this is the sewing session for you.

📆 Friday 11th & 18th September / 10:30
📍 Bath Central Library

Sew Chatty:

Bring along your sewing, last-minute hemming, embroidery, or latest bonnet in need of trimming to the Drawing Room (or gardens) of the Bath Priory for a session of sewing, chatting and sharing sewing advice (or sewing woes!) with other like-minded Austen friends.

📆 Wednesday 16th September / 14:00
📍 Bath Priory, Weston Road
