i’m in year 1, studying drama and psychology
I am showcase manager so i will put on monthly performances where people can come together and sing along to all their musical theatre favourites
I’d have to say that my favourite musical theatre character is Elphaba because she is just a misunderstood, outcast character who is trying to her best in the world she lives in. Also all her song are amazing to listen to 🤣
If I could write a musical about anything it would be about people from all over the world telling their stories about their home lives and how it’s made them the person they are today!!!

Our next showcase is tomorrow at 7:30pm in the SU. Come and see! No solos! Only duets, trios, and group numbers. Some of the numbers include ‘Mamma Mia’, ‘Bad idea’, and ‘you can’t stop the beat’. We will have a raffle with prizes 😁

Hello ☺️ my names Chloe and I’m in second year doing primary and early years education!

I am treasurer in the musical theatre society this year and I’m so excited to be part of the committee!

My favourite musical theatre character (very hard question😂) is Katherine from Newsies as she is pushing against the social norms of the time where it was uncommon for women to be reporters and I think that’s just so cool!

If I could write a musical about anything it would be about the suffragette movement as I think it was such a poignant time in history.

Hiya! My name is Poppy Laycock & I am a first year student, studying Drama.

My role as fundraiser is to help raise money for the Musical Theatre Society!

My favourite musical theatre character has to be Donna from ‘Mamma Mia!’. I love her energy and her relationship with her daughter Sophie.

If I were to write a musical I would like for it to revolve around the importance of friends and family. I feel that there are not enough musicals about this kind of love as they mainly focus on romantic love.

My role as a fundraiser is to find fun and creative ways to earn money for the society so we can put on an amazing show at the end of the year!

Thank you to everyone who came to our taster session on Thursday. It was lovely to meet you all, and we hope you enjoyed it.

Hello everyone

So you all should have had an email from our President, Paige, but we are posting details here too. tomorrow’s taster session will be held from 7pm- 9:30pm.

We all meet by the commons reception on Newton park campus, and then go from there. Look after wearing T- shirts with the society’s logo on them. Please message if your unsure about where the location is 😊

Covid safety procedures:

• Please use the hand sanitisers frequency to keep everything clean

• We will ask for your names, and numbers/ email addresses so we can contact you if someone in the taster session comes down with covid. It’s important you let us know if you test positive!

• We strongly encourage you all to wear masks when your entering the building, or when your not singing, dancing, or acting.

• In order to keep up ventilation, we will be keeping windows open, so please bring something warm you can put on, just in case it gets cold.

• Please be respectful of others and keep social distanced when possible.

• Please keep in mind that some people are still anxious about the virus, and therefore they won’t be comfortable with being hugged or touched.

• Most important of all, have fun! Whilst being careful, and respectful, at the same time. We have all had it hard the last year and a half, maybe some have had it harder then others, but we have definitely had it tough in some way, So let’s enjoy tomorrow, and general enjoy this year. It’s going to be a great year!

The deadline for signing up for the taster session has now past, for those who messaged in the last hour or so, asking for their name to put down on the sheet, don’t worry! Your name is on the sheet. 😊

Hey everyone

Tomorrow we will be hosting a night of musical theatre in the students union bar, from 7:30pm. Come along and see us 😃.

There will be performances from our current members, as well as a quiz (with prizes), a musical theatre karaoke session at the end so you can have a chance to get up and sing ⭐️, as well as a chance to meet some of the current members, as well as the committee members. It’s going to be a great night!
We hope to see you there 💫.
