✨ We’re in the magazine! 🎨🖼️

We’re absolutely delighted to see Basingstoke Art House Gallery featured in the latest issue of North Hampshire Lifestyle! ❤️
The article celebrates our journey from an empty retail space at Festival Place into a vibrant hub for local creativity, community and connection.
Since opening in April, we’ve had the pleasure of showcasing the work of over 30 local artists, welcoming visitors, hosting exhibitions, creative workshops and community events, and creating a space where artists and art lovers can meet and share their passion.

We’re especially proud that our gallery has become more than just an exhibition space — it’s a place where people can discover art, meet the makers, hear the stories behind the work and get creative themselves. 🎨✨

A huge thank you to our sponsor The Artist's Window, and everyone who has visited, supported our artists, attended our events and helped make this journey possible. This recognition truly belongs to our wonderful creative community. ❤️

🎨 Meet Barry Sears

I’d like to introduce you to Barry, a talented painter working with oils and mixed media.

After a career in Finance, Barry returned to his artistic journey in 2022, following his passion and formal training at the Milan Art Institute.
What I love about Barry’s work is his fearless approach to colour and experimentation. He often begins with chaos — expressive marks, layers and vibrant colours — and gradually transforms it into something full of depth, light and harmony.
His paintings remind us that beauty can be found within the unexpected. ✨🎨

Come and discover Barry’s work at The Basingstoke Art House Gallery. 🖼️

🎨 Meet Jo Peate — Berkshire Artist

We’re delighted to showcase the work of Jo Peate, a Berkshire-based artist inspired by the beauty of the natural world and the character of architecture.
Working across watercolour, acrylic and oil, Jo explores the unique textures, atmosphere and possibilities of each medium. Her paintings capture quiet moments of beauty and connection, inviting us to pause, reflect and perhaps be transported to a familiar place—or somewhere imagined. ✨

From atmospheric landscapes to striking architectural forms, Jo’s work brings a wonderful sense of place and emotion to the gallery.

David Plant about his atmospheric works, combining traditional watercolour techniques with a loose, expressive approach to landscape and architecture. His paintings capture recognisable places without becoming overly rigid or photographic.

🎨 Meet Our New Artist – Julia Birtwistle 🐆✨
We’re delighted to welcome Julia Birtwistle, a talented artist based in Berkshire, to The Basingstoke Art House Gallery!

Julia works in original acrylic and watercolour, often incorporating beautiful textures and metallic details into her artwork. Her expressive animal paintings are particularly captivating — including her striking abstract Cheetah, which was selected as a finalist in a competition for a film of the same name and later exhibited in London.

🖼️ Julia also offers prints and commissions, making her work accessible for art lovers and collectors alike.

Come and discover Julia’s work alongside our wonderful collection of local and independent artists at the gallery! 💜

Something I’ve been meaning to share with you all for a little while — our Make 4 Peace installation is now taking shape at the gallery. 🕊️💙

We’re working together towards a goal of 1,000 origami cranes by 21 September, International Day of Peace. 🌍

I’d really appreciate your support! To take part, you can simply:

🕊️ Fold an origami crane
✍️ Write the word “Peace” on it
💙 Add it to the installation
🙌 Encourage visitors to join in too!

Every crane counts.

And if folding isn’t your thing, don’t worry — we also have some ready-folded cranes available for you to add to the installation.

I hope you’ll join this small but meaningful collective effort, bringing together creativity, hope and a shared message of peace. 💙🕊️🌍
