Abandoned Relay Station.

The original photo of this was, I believe, a frame from a Western. It reminded me of the relay stations for the 1860 Pony Express. This very short lived postal service took ten days to reach California from St Louis. These stations were set up at regular distances across the west to provide food, water and fresh mounts for the young riders.

Robin Hood Oak

Said to be the largest oak tree in the UK it is known as the Major Oak or Robin Hood Oak. It has branch supports, testament to its antiquity, but I couldn't bring myself to include them.

Held in Heaven - oil on canvas
A woman stands beside a white horse, eyes closed, not in retreat, but in trust. The horse does not simply accompany her. It meets her in a space beyond language, where recognition is immediate and complete. There is no asking, no reaching. Only knowing.

Above them, light descends. Not as decoration, but as something active, something that surrounds and carries. Within it, fine golden threads begin to emerge, moving between them, through them, forming the first visible traces of a connection that cannot be broken.

The clouds do not enclose them. They open, allowing the figures to emerge as if held within something greater than themselves.
This is not a moment of arrival.
It is a moment of realisation.

Carp in Pond.

Spent much time in my younger years trying to lure these wary fish onto my hook and succeeding only on a handful of occasions. On hot, sunny days they will seek shade and safety under a raft of water lilies, much like the one in my painting.
