3 days ago I ran my first half marathon nonstop, and today I beat my 5K PB by a good margin too! 🏃‍♂️Also, in August I ran a total of 140km.

I’ll be honest and say I do think I’ve been overtraining a fair bit recently. Being in a decent calorie deficit while doing all the running, gym work and other stuff has really messed with my hunger, and I feel like it’s finally caught up with me, and I’m feeling pretty drained.

I’ve had about 5 days now where I’ve probably eaten close to 4,000+ calories a day, but honestly, I feel like I’ve needed the break.

I’m going to work out a new plan that gives me a bit more rest and a tad more food. The problem I always have is that when I get into something, I go 110% 😂 Running has been no different.

Still can’t believe I only started running in May! 😂

It’s that time again with the loss update for this month, and it was around 7lbs bringing the total loss to 74.2lbs. I’m starting to get to that point where my sternum bone thing is showing 😂 Diet is still good, although I do have more varied days, I’m normally around 1,800-2,000 calories, but I’ll have the odd day where I’m closer to 3,500, maybe even more. I’m trying to listen to my body within reason, especially around training. The scales hasn’t moved a massive amount, but the measurements are reducing so it’s all heading in the right direction. The photos are slightly disproportionate but I wanted to get Chubzilla in the photo as she was being so sweet

It was a little over 3 months ago that I started running at 120kg, and I was running for 90 seconds with a 2 minute break x8. Yesterday, I did this run at 107kg with no stops, and it felt great. I could have gone further, but I’m trying to be sensible.

I’m still learning to fuel my runs, and I felt like I nailed that too. Weight loss has slowed down over the last 5–6 weeks, but in that time, I’m down 2–3” off my chest and waist (and I think my noodle arms too 😂).

What was great about the run was the fact I had zero IT band pain or discomfort during the run or afterwards. I have got some hip flexor pain today, but that’s something I’m working on.

Today was the first time I’ve quit something in a long time. Everything was going great today, and around 5K in, I took a stumble and smashed up the left side of my body, and my Leki pole. My ankle and shin were hurting, but I managed to plough through and get to loop two.

I stopped at the car for 10 minutes, then started off again, and the adrenaline started to fade. I did another few kilometres running (my fastest kilometres of the run), and then my ankle just hurt so much that I couldn’t put any more weight on it, and my left arm/shoulder hurt so I couldn’t take much weight on the poles.

I argued with myself because I felt like I was quitting because things got hard, and I ended up deciding to cut the run 5K short. Outside of that fall, my IT band felt great. I don’t think I fuelled enough, but I still really enjoyed the run, not so much the pain I’m in now from the fall 😂

Felt the pace was good (until the last few km) despite the fall. I’m taking this on again next week, hopefully without the fall 😂

I can’t belive I actually managed to do this today. Best of all my IT band is not hurting, I’m completely fine and only have muscle fatigue. This week I’ve done over 35km, which is the most I’ve done since I started. After this I defo feel more confident about the Three Trails half in November. Changed the route at the last minute and think this may have been the hardest route I’ve done, some of the inclines and declines were absolute killers. I still have three months to drop more weight, work on my fitness and speed. Used .the.trail bags to carry my food for this, highly recommend if you’re in to sustainability and cheap fuelling.

It’s just under two weeks until my next check-in, but today I hit my next major milestone: getting under 17 stone. That means I’ve now lost over 5 stone.

I still can’t quite believe it, and I definitely can’t believe how addicted I’ve become to running.

My original goal was to reach 16 stone, but looking at my body and how much fat I still have left to lose, I realistically think that target will probably need to be lower. For now, though, I’m going to leave the goal where it is. It’s still a few months away, and I’ll reassess things when I get there.

I’ve got my trail half marathon in November, and I’m hoping to keep building my mileage so I can run a marathon next year, and then move on to an ultra, but one goal at a time.

I’ve had a recurring knee issue for years. It got so bad that I had to stop strength training my legs because even the slightest knee bend would cause pain and discomfort.

When I started running, as part of my research for building myself up, I came across Knee Ability Zero. I watched loads of videos, bought the book, and have been following the programme for a while now. I can finally go knee over toes on my bad leg for multiple reps with absolutely no pain.

I’m genuinely in the best shape I’ve been in for a long time. I’m fitter, more flexible, and more pain-free than I can remember. I’m genuinely excited to see my progress over the next few months.

I took some horse treats in to a field of hungry horses. It went about as well as you could imagine. I got lipped, bitten, groomed and now I smell of horse and garlic 😂

I still find the before and current pics mad. I can’t believe that, after losing over 191lbs all those years ago, I ended up back in the state I was in on the left.

I’m still not finished. I reckon I’m about 50lbs away from where I want to be, but I’ll reassess as I get closer. I just want to get as light as possible for the running.

I had a complete blood panel done, and everything came back within the optimal range. My resting heart rate was under 60, and my blood pressure was perfect. I genuinely think that, even at 110kg, this is one of the healthiest I’ve ever been.

Another good month of weight loss, bringing my total now to 67lbs. Not as much as any of my previous months, which is to be expected. I have “relaxed” my diet a bit more now, definitely eating more for recovery around training, instead of solely eating to lose weight. Running has been going well, IT band is really playing up, so taking the week off, but what do I expect being 17 odd stone, only running for 2 months and attempting 18.5k on a trail with over 6km of near continuous downhill, I’ll never learn.
