I am very sad to report that due to low sales, the comedy on 5th May is cancelled. While I am sure that Christian, Caimh and I (all veterans of the Edinburgh Fringe and not afraid of a small crowd) would have gone ahead, the venue weren't so keen, and seeing as they were good enough to let us have the room for free on the strength of food and drink sales, I can't really blame them. To the people that bought tickets, I salute you.
If you can’t sell tickets for a comedy show with two cracking, experienced Edinburgh-class acts at a tenner for the both, when it’s for a children’s healthcare charity, then what can you do? Shows that in previous years, featuring similar acts, similar publicity, similar pricing, drew over a hundred now get barely enough for a front row breaks my heart. A sign of the times. Maybe we will try again another year, but right now, it seems everyone's not in the mood to laugh.
If you would like to donate something in memory of my shattered pride and the Humerus comedy club, may it rest in peace, then here it is:
