Our work, rooted in the experiences of local and global communities, especially those with migration backgrounds, co-creates performances highlighting struggles for freedom, identity, and justice, connecting past and present through theatre and arts. Unpuzzled Theatre Company is a school of theatre-making, using the techniques of Augusto Boal’s Theatre of the Oppressed, we specialise in theatre and education, offering theatre as a tool for liberation and empowerment.

Stop, pause, reflect.

We often don't get the luxury but returning to Thailand has enabled just that.

We are back in the place it all began and being able to bring our children to the place we love has been such a privilege.

We haven't gone anywhere. There's certainly more to come. But until November we have pressed pause ⏸️

On Saturday we performed our final piece Revolt! at Wat Tyler Country Park’s Heritage Barn 🎭

The Q&A afterwards was powerful — reflecting on the past and asking: why do humans keep repeating history?

This project has grown beyond anything we imagined. Our amazing community cast (aged 17–79!) came from all walks of life. Each person had a chance to lead, create without judgement, reflect, process, and grow — not just as performers, but as people. 💫

Huge thanks to for believing in us and to for welcoming us into your space.

We’re so proud of what’s been achieved. So… what’s next, I hear you ask? 👀 Stay tuned!

We invited anyone from Basildon aged 16+ to join us weekly in creating a piece of theatre about what “Revolt” means, reflecting on Basildon’s own local history, drawing parallels to modern day, and having conversations across generations. No prior experience was required, and for some of our participants this is their very first experience of theatre-making.

“Theatre is a form of knowledge; it should and can also be a means of transforming society. Theatre can help us build our future, rather than just waiting for it.”

Participatory theatre can inspire new confidence in life, boost self esteem, form new relationships between community members, promote positive change, empower and unify.

In short, it has the capacity to be life changing.

✨ After a well-deserved break, Unpuzzled Theatre is back this Sunday, 31st August, at Mother’s Kitchen Café, Pitsea, for our Revolt rehearsals!

We’re loving every moment of this participatory project where the past meets the present. Together with our community cast, we’re diving into the big social and political movements that shaped our lives — and asking why history so often seems to repeat itself.

📅 Save the date!
Our final performance will take place on Saturday, 20th September at Wat Tyler Heritage Barn. Tickets will be FREE, but spaces are limited — so you’ll want to grab yours quickly once they’re released next week.

Join us for a powerful, creative performance that asks urgent questions about our history, our present, and our future.

5.01 our work is done!

It's been a cracking two weeks but now it's time to rest.

Thank you all involved especially the Mayor and Mayoress who joined us today.

Keep a look out for our next show 👀 Revolt! Which will be in September. We have one more workshop at Mother's Kitchen on Sunday (if you're 16+ then there's still time to come along!) and then we take a well deserved break.
