Last Friday, we were treated to a wonderful selection of international desserts, celebrating the diverse backgrounds of our team. 😋

Soti, originally from Athens, delighted us with freshly made baklava and a traditional Greek walnut cake, while Anna, who specialised in dessert-making during her time living in Austria, created a delicious tiramisu. We can confirm that every dessert was absolutely superb! 🍰🍫

Why not join us for Pizza, Pasta and Puddings every Friday throughout the summer? Visit the Coffee Shop between 5pm and 7.30pm (last orders at 7.15pm) and enjoy a delicious meal – with a surprise dessert that could take you anywhere in the world! 😍

You may remember that we recently shared news of Ropewalk Studio Artist Nigel Walker’s ambitious photography project, 500 Faces, which he began in January of this year.

We’re delighted to share that Nigel has now completed his 100th portrait – a significant milestone in the project. Alongside each portrait, participants have shared personal reflections, creating a fascinating and diverse collection of stories and experiences.

Reaching this landmark also marks the beginning of the next phase of the project. In early autumn 2026, a dedicated website will launch, featuring all of the portraits and reflections completed so far. Nigel is also producing a magazine-style publication showcasing the first 100 participants.

The project will continue until December 2027, as Nigel’s list of volunteers continues to grow. If you would like to become part of 500 Faces, email Nigel at [email protected] and he will send you full details, along with information about upcoming dates and times when you can take part.

To learn more about the project and see some of the portraits completed so far, visit Nigel’s website via the link in the comments.

Last Saturday, we brought this Ropery Hall season to a close with a hilarious performance by Ian Smith. It was the perfect finale to another brilliant programme of shows, with Ian keeping the audience laughing throughout the evening and sending everyone home on a high.

While Ropery Hall takes a well-earned break from live performances over the summer months, there’s plenty happening behind the scenes as we prepare for an exciting autumn season. In fact, a couple of shows have already sold out, and several others are filling up fast!

As the evenings begin to draw in later this year, make sure you have plenty to look forward to. Click the link in the comments to explore our upcoming programme and secure your tickets before they’re gone.

Due to a change of date, Lesley Leonard’s Upholstery Workshop will now take place on Friday, June 19. As a result, two places have become available on this popular workshop. As the event was previously fully booked, we expect these remaining spaces to be snapped up quickly!

If you have a tired piece of furniture in need of some attention, this is the perfect opportunity to learn how to give it a new lease of life. Join Lesley for a hands-on workshop and transform an old favourite into something beautiful and unique.

To book one of the remaining places, visit the Craft Gallery or call us on 01652 660380.

If you missed our recent Gardening Day, or simply couldn’t carry any more plants home, we have some good news! 😍

Darryl from Darryl's Shed will be joining us on the second Friday of every month (apart from August), beginning next Friday, June 12, from 9am onwards. He’ll be bringing along a wonderful selection of plants and flowers to help keep your gardens looking their best. His stall proved extremely popular at Gardening Day, and we’re sure he’ll receive a warm welcome each month. 🌸🌻

We’re also delighted to continue welcoming Goddard & Page Fine Cheese on the third Friday of every month. The cheese van will next visit on Friday, June 19, and will be parked outside the Coffee Shop from 10am to 2pm. With a fantastic range of cheeses on offer, it’s the perfect opportunity to stock up on your favourites or discover something new! 🧀
