Introducing professional singer and creative genius to our line-up, the frontwoman to her own band and vocal extraordinaire in her own right: Gabby Young

Gabby is a singer-songwriter with a voice as big as her imagination. Best known as the powerhouse behind Gabby Young & Other Animals, she has spent years touring as a professional musician, bringing her theatrical, genre-bending song writing to stages across the country. Now based in North Devon, Gabby continues to write and perform with the warmth, wit and vocal power that have defined her career. Tonight, she takes to the stage stripped back and solo, just Gabby, her voice and her songs.

We can’t tell you how excited we are to include Gabby’s unstoppable creative energy!

Just 4 days to go to grab yourself one of our remaining tickets for this Friday's KIND Voices evening of poetry, storytelling, music and song!
Completing our lineup of spoken word artists and returning to the Studio for her second KIND Voices evening is storyteller: Rosamund Clare.

As well as being a solo performer, Rosamund is one half of 'Suited Storytellers' with Katy Lee, and also runs the Plough Storytelling Circle in Barnstaple which meets at 7.30pm on the first Thursday of every month (currently at the Guildhall whilst St Anne's is undergoing renovation).

A quote from Ros: 'Words, words, it's always been words. From giving breath to other people's words on the stage, to writing them for newspapers and magazines to pay the bills.An MS diagnosis forced the learning of a whole new set of words - the language of disability. I didn't like it much. So I buried myself in the words of the bard instead, emerging from the University of Exeter with an MA in Staging Shakespeare and an excitement to show others how his words work. And then came storytelling. Spoken, not written. Immediate, intimate, transitory. And nothing but words. A joy.'

Ros engaged our audience last time with a tale that moved us, had us mesmerised and clamouring for more!

KIND voices is an evening of contemporary poetry, story-telling and singing at Studio KIND, bringing together a collection distinctive voices for a night of language, reflection, and connection.

Join Nayomie James, Rosamund Clare, Stephen Ellis, Grizel Luttman-Johnson, Gabby Young and Helena Payne for an intimate gathering of words shared aloud.

We had an amazing time at our Story and Song workshop this afternoon, thanks so much to everyone who came along!

Our next two workshops are lantern making workshops with Jane Churchill, ahead of the lantern parade which will be part of our Dark Waters shows.

Introducing Dawn Chorus!

Dawn Chorus is a weekly, open invitation for people of all abilities to come and sing with us.

This isn't a choir, rather a coming together through song. We have a healthy repertoire to get us started and are always keen to learn more, so if you know a round, bring it along.

The sessions run on Wednesday morning from 8am until 9am The Bridge Hall , Barnstaple, and are FREE. A good way to energise before the working day begins.

Our first session is tomorrow morning (7th Oct) and we would love to see you there!

We’ve been enjoying reminiscing over these photographs taken from our rehearsals and performance of the Thumbelina Story Trail at the Landmark Welcome Weekender!

Interestingly, this show was a blend of the upcoming 2 productions we are working on, with the ourdoorsy nature of ‘Dark Waters’ and of course, our beloved title character making a return in ‘Thumbelina’!
