Buddy Holly is back! 🤩

The brand-new Rock ’n’ Roll Legends Show celebrates all of Buddy Holly’s best-loved songs, alongside the biggest hits from fellow 50s icons including Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Eddie Cochran, The Everly Brothers and Ray Charles.

Every night, this amazing show brings to life the songs parents danced to, grandparents fell in love to and families still cherish today. From Buddy’s timeless hits to the unmistakable voices of Elvis, Little Richard and The Everly Brothers, every number is performed with warmth, joy and the irresistible energy only live music can deliver.

Pack a picnic, bring your friends and family, and join us as we kick off CIVIC150 with a free community celebration full of creativity and circus magic! 🎉

With a programme packed with live performances, circus demos and workshops, hands-on creative crafts music and games, it promises to be a lively fun-filled event for all the family.

This year’s theme takes us back to 1874, inspired by Charles Adams' Wooden Circus, which stood near Eldon Street just two years before work began on the Civic building.

As part of Heritage Open Days week, you’ll also have the opportunity to go behind the scenes of the Civic building with free guided tours, uncovering hidden spaces and fascinating stories behind the building.

The last in our close-up looks at the confirmed acts to play our Sunday Folk Festival evening showcase, are SHOON Sheffield.

SHOON are a Sheffield-based folk outfit formed in 2022. Heavily influenced by the British folk revival, they play their own interpretations of mostly traditional songs enhanced by and layered with passion, charisma, and loop pedals.

Vocalist Rebecca Hearne embraces the pure joy of singing and works across a range of projects including SHOON and solo a ca****la, sourcing the most creepy and unusual ballads for her collection. Ric Booth (guitar, vocals, fiddle) is a guitarist, producer, and composer who also performs with The 20ft Squid Blues Band, ROSH, Laik, and Slow Galleys Drift. Johnny Griff (bass, fiddle) also performs with Ash Grey and the Burners, Banjo Jen, and others.

Described as atmospheric, shimmering, and heart-warming, their eponymous debut EP features tales of love, murder, and shipwrecks. We can't wait to welcome SHOON to the Civic!
