What’s your Civic story? Call out for memories! 📢

As part of the Civic150 project, we're researching the original decorative scheme of this historic building and restoring these beautiful encaustic tiles.

Now we need your help to uncover the stories of the people who have walked across them.

Whether you visited the public library, danced the night away at the Teens and Twenties Disco, or watched the annual pantomime, we'd love to hear your memories. We're also looking for photographs, programmes, tickets, and other memorabilia that help tell the story of the building and the people who used it.

On Friday 26th June (10-12pm) we'd love you to join us for an informal coffee morning (tea and toast!) where you can hear more about the project and share your own memories. Please bring along any souvenirs, photographs or mementos too as we'll be able to scan and share them on the day.

If you can't attend but would like to contribute, keep your eyes on our website as these will be monthly events or email us [email protected]

See you there,
Team Barnsley Civic ☕

[The Civic150 is a two-year project working towards to the building’s 150th birthday on 25th January 2028, supported by National Lottery Heritage Fund.]
