⭐ Introducing the incredible Lauren McNichol... ⭐

It was an absolute delight to welcome Lauren into the studio; a studio and a brand she had a big hand in developing with me in 2024. She is the brains behind all the logos, the colours and the branding of the studio, which has played a massive part in helping to shape the identity of Carriagehouse Studio.

As well as being a brilliant graphic designer by trade, Lauren is a highly-skilled and very talented vocalist, performing as either a solo artist, or as part of the world-renowned Barnsley Youth Choir.

She returned to Carriagehouse Studio last month to create a professional portfolio of recordings as promo for her solo performing work, and it was a delight to return the favour to help her develop her career as she had done so kindly for mine.

This is the first of five recordings I'll be sharing with you over the next few weeks; "Nothing's Real But Love" by Rebecca Ferguson. A gorgeous song sharing the most universal truth. Bravo, Lauren! 💚

This is what Lauren had to say about her time recording in Carriagehouse Studio:

"Carriagehouse is the most comfortable and supportive space to record in, the whole day was super chilled. The studio is the perfect balance of professional and friendly. The tracks and video are amazing."

⭐ Re-introducting Bailey Whitfield... ⭐

A song that needs no introduction, with a performance to match. Bailey's final video from his showreel session is quite the watch!

Here is what Bailey had to say about his time recording in Carriagehouse Studio:

"I couldn’t recommend Rob highly enough. It was an absolute pleasure working with someone so patient, professional, and supportive throughout the entire process. From the moment I arrived at the studio, Rob was incredibly attentive and made sure I felt comfortable and confident while recording.

"He guided me every step of the way and was fully committed to making sure I was completely happy with the final result. The recordings came out with outstanding quality, and his studio setup is excellent. He also uses multiple camera angles for reels, which added a really professional touch to the content.

"What stood out most was Rob’s dedication, even outside of the session itself. He took the time to edit parts I wasn’t completely happy with and made sure everything was exactly how I wanted it. On top of that, he offered valuable advice and insights on what would work best for the recordings.

"The combination of his expertise, high-quality equipment, and fair pricing made the entire experience worthwhile. I’m extremely grateful for the time and effort he put in, and I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a professional and supportive recording experience. Thank you again, Rob" 🫶🏼

⭐ Introducing the incredible duo of Poppy Whittaker and Maisy Pendleton... ⭐

I have a very special recording to share with you all this Friday, as Carriagehouse favourite Poppy teams up with her friend Maisy to create their unique take on Nick Barstow's incredible medley arrangement of Cyndi Lauper's 'Time After Time' and Scott Alan's 'Always'. A gorgeous piece of music that makes the two songs sound like one complete whole, performed with real heart and skill by two very talented vocalists.

It was a delight to help bring this to life, and a wonderful excuse to use the new Yamaha studio piano. It sounds almost as good as those it's accompanying! 🎹

💚 || "So fill to me the Parting Glass..."

I'm delighted to share with you this very special recording from Claire Gilmore.

In light of the sad passing of her dad earlier this year, Claire approached me to record a song that would serve as a fitting tribute to him and his memory. As well as serving as a precious keepsake for Claire and the family, the video was played at Major Atkinson's funeral in a poignant moment of shared reflection.

It's always such an honour to help create videos of such deep personal importance to my clients, and I never take this show of faith for granted. Thank you, Claire, for trusting me to bring your beautiful tribute to life.

Shared with permission from Claire.

🎹 || A new piece of furniture…

A dream come true. My very own Yamaha U3H.

I’ve been after one of these for years. These Yamahas seem to sit in a class of their own as the standard for all upright pianos. I’ve played so many through the years. Concerts, gigs, recitals… and they’ve always been a joy to sit at, and they all left an impression that I would one day strive to own one. A string length longer than a baby grand providing a depth of sound not normally heard in uprights, and a build quality that is a high-watermark in piano making even today. And now I have one I can call mine in my very own studio.

1977. Nearly 50 years old. An absolute beauty who plays and sounds just as good as she looks.

I’ll say it again - a dream come true. I’m in love. 😍

Here’s a recent one from Bailey Whitfield, who came to record a professional showreel:

💚 || "It's hard to speak my heart..."

⭐ Welcoming back Bailey Whitfield...⭐

I recently had the pleasure of working with a new face to Carriagehouse Studio... Bailey Whitfield, a recent graduate of Performers College, approached me for a professional showreel production to submit for auditions, and to populate his Spotlight profile.

"It's Hard To Speak My Heart" is a pivotal song from the musical 'Parade', sung by the protagonist, Leo Frank, during his 1913 trial for a murder he did not commit. The song serves as a moment of emotional vulnerability, where Frank—who is often portrayed as cold, detached, or socially awkward—struggles to convey his innocence and inner emotions to a hostile courtroom.
