AUTUMN COMMUNITY CAST STORIES. ELAINE.

“It made me feel abnormal, diseased and perverted.”

Elaine was 26 in 1989, hiding her true self after nine years ‘passing’ in a straight relationship. Performing in DETENTION gave her the stage to reclaim those stolen years and celebrate her identity openly.

➡️ Swipe to read more in Elaine’s own words.

AUTUMN COMMUNITY CAST STORIES. CLIVE.

Clive was 30 when Section 28 became law. Performing in DETENTION nearly forty years later allowed him to revisit those years. He described the experience as “painful to remember, but ultimately liberating.”

Sharing these stories on stage allowed Clive’s story to be heard, and for a younger generation still fighting for q***r rights to learn from them.

Earlier this month, Gary Clarke Company delivered a COAL workshop and roadshow for Y12 Performing Arts students at Castle Rock School, Coalville.

Inspired by COAL, students are now creating their own original performance exploring the legacy of the UK coal industry, to be premiered at Snibston Colliery as part of the Coalville Theatre Festival this June.

A brilliant day of creativity - we can’t wait to see the final piece!

After two extraordinary years, PRIDE IN MOTION has taken its final bow at Blackpool Grand Theatre.

What began as a conversation over cake and coffee became a journey of creativity and connection with Blackpool’s vibrant and historic LGBT+ community. Participants explored movement, experimented with photography, co-created performances and brought their stories to life on stage.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to PRIDE IN MOTION. Here are some of our favourite pictures from the past 2 years! 💛
