One of the most exciting and authentic voices in jazz is heading to our tiny Barnoldswick stage for an intimate Sunday afternoon celebrating one of the true giants of the music — SIDNEY BECHET.
Internationally acclaimed clarinettist ADRIAN COX has built an extraordinary reputation as a leading authority on New Orleans music. A musician with phenomenal technique, infectious stage presence and a genuine understanding of the history and soul behind the music, Adrian doesn't simply recreate early jazz — he makes it live and breathe.

His reputation has taken him around the world and put him alongside some of the biggest names in jazz, including performances with the legendary Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra in both LONDON and NEW YORK.
And now he brings his superb trio to Barnoldswick Music & Arts Centre.

THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF BECHET

This specially conceived show explores the extraordinary musical legacy of SIDNEY BECHET, one of the great pioneers to emerge from New Orleans and a musician whose unmistakable sound helped shape the very language of jazz.

Bechet's soaring soprano saxophone and clarinet playing possessed a power, vibrancy and emotional intensity unlike almost anyone before him. His influence travelled around the world, inspiring generations of musicians — including Adrian Cox.

Expect a beautiful journey through Bechet's music and influence, touching upon his work as clarinettist, saxophonist, composer and recording artist, with music including the sublime “Si Tu Vois Ma Mère” and his celebrated interpretation of “Summertime.”
